State Tests For
! CAP Cadets
IKISGSLAND—Civil Air Pa-
trol’s Texas Wing conducted
• Its annual Civil Defense and
iSearch and Rescue Test Satur-
day and Sunday.
‘ CAP members throughout
Texas participated In the two-
day exercise at the primary
•base located at Waco or at one
of the two sub-bases located
at Conroe and Odessa.
• Two Llano High School Ca-
dets of the Highland Composite
Squadron, hased at Klngsland,
participated In the exercise and
were assigned to the primary
base at Waco. The test provid-
ed both cadets the opportunity
-to become mission qualified In
at least one emergency ser-
vice specialty.
Cadet Flight Commander
Kathy Myers, a freshman at
LHS, became mission qualified
as an Aircraft Dispatcher. Ca-
det Myers became the youngest
person to complete the Civil
Defense Radiological Monitor-
ing Course (ground) when she
did so last year at the age of
12. She also completed a one-
week summer encampment a^

July and will be attending the ■■

ceives an FCC license and takes
the CAP test for her Radio
Operator's Permit. Cadet Hare
also completed the CD Ground
Radiological Monitoring Course
and attended summer encamp-
ment at Sheppard APB In July.
Both girls will successfully
complete the Civil Defense
Aerial Radiological Monitoring
Course when they fly their prac-
tice monitoring missions with
Captain Kenneth Witteklend,
squadron aerospace education
officer. In the J-3 Cub next
month.
The Highland Composite
Squadron provides emergency
services for Llano County. Ca-
dets, like Kathy Myers and Do-
rlna Hare, serve In key posi-
tions during emergency opera-
tions of all types In a profes-
sional manner. They are able to
do so because they are well-
trained In their specialty areas.

• No hunting permitted in game refuges, state and federal perks, gsme
reserves, within corporate city limits or from public roads or rood rights of
way.
• The retention of one fully-fasthered wing on dressed doves is required in
those counties having s white winged dove season when both mourning and
White winged doves may be taken. The requirement also applies when
dovat are imported from Meaico or any foreign country.

be larger than ten gauge. Hunting doves with rifles prohibited.
•During the concurrent whitewinged and mourning dove season, dove
bunting is not permitted in the area south of U.S. Hwy. 291 between the

Hertingon bounded on the east by U.S. Hwy. 77. on the north and west by
F.M. 491 and on the south by State Hwy. 107.

Webster Jordan, 72, died
Saturday, August 26, in e Burnet
hospital.
Funeral services were held
at Waldrops Funeral Home Sun-
day with the Rev. Lawrence
Sellars officiating. Burial was
In the Llano Cemetery.
He was born January 27,1902,
In Van County, Texas. He was
m a r r I ed to Lydia Taylor Nov.
17, 1947 In Llano. He had been
engaged In mining and rock
work. He was affiliated with
the Christian Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs.
Lydia Jordan at Llano; one son,
Willard Jordan of Mineral
Wells; three daughters, Mra.
Tom Moor# of Santa Ana, Calif.,
