Community Center with Mrs.
W. R. Miller, Encampment

* were eight clubs represented by

and seven clubs with 26 mem-
bers at the night session.

The Lake Buchanan Chamber
of Commerce will be sponsoring
a “Miss Buchanan Dam” beau-
ty pageant. All interested airls
between the ages of 16 ana 18
are urged to call Mrs. McFad-
den at 793-2827. AH entrants
must reside in the lake area.
The three finalists will compete
in the Miss Highland Lakes
contest in Llano on June 16.

Council meeting was held
beginning at 1:30 p m. with
Graylene Shaffer. Council chair-
man. presiding. The Council
voted to publish a cookbook as a
money-making project during
the year.
In the THDA meeting follow-
ing the regular council meeting.
Graylene Shaffer was elected
THDA chairman for the next
term. Delegates to the state
meeting to be held in Dallas
during October will be Linnie
Osbourn, Graylene Shaffer, and
Ethel Schneider.
Featured at the evening meet-
ing aa special speaker was Jerry
Parsons, area vegetable special-
ist, from San Antonio. He gave
an excellent program on how to
get the most from your garden

Miss Kellene Coats was given
in marriage by her father. Kelly
Coats, to Russell A. Benson
They were united in marriage
Saturday. April 15. at the
Pittsburg Baptist Church at 7
p.m. with the Rev. Rodger
Croker officiating.
Miss Coats is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Kelly C. Coats of
Llano.
Benson is the son of Mrs.
Mary Katherine Benson.
The bride wore a formal floor
length traditional antique satin
gown with sheer sleeves and
yoke. It was accented with lace
and baby blue ribbon. A chapel
length veil was attached to ■
lace cap. She carried a bouquet
of blue and white carnations
accented with greenery and
baby’s breath.
Matron of honor was the
bride's sister. Mrs. Clydean
Coats Hohmann. She wore a
floor length blue dotted Swiss
gown with love lace knots and
puffed sleeves. She carried a
nose gay of blue and white
carnations accented with baby's
breath and greenery. She also
wore baby’s breath in her hair.
Willie Benson served his
brother as best man. Ushers
were Pernell Coats, brother of
the bride and Andress Herrera
of Austin.
Wedding music was provided
by Carol Leeder and Debbie
Cook of Smithville. sang “Wed-
ding Song.’’ and "Ever-
green . Mrs Leeder played the
traditional wedding music dur
ingthe ceremony.
The church was decorated
with white giadiolas. blue carna-
tions and baby's breath
throughout the chapel. Green-
ery was used to accent the
flowers.
Following the ceremony a
reception was held in the
church’s fellowship hall. Miss
Cathy Pasley of Austin presided
at the register table. Cousins of
the bride. Rhonda Lanier of Fort
Worth and Pam Freeman of
Moran, and Lynn Hammock of
Austin were included in the
house party.
The couple left foi a wedding
trip on the Colorado River. She
wore a baby blue pant suit when
they left for their honeymoon.
They will make their home in
Austin.

can Statesman in Austin. The
groom is employed at Texas
instruments in Austin.

and Marie Schneider returned
to Llano Saturday after a nine
day tour of Holland. Belgium
and France.
In Holland they visited Am
sterdam. where tbev toured the
Diamond Factory, the Rijksmu
scum where they saw Rem
brandt's famous “Night
Watch" and many other famous
old masters paintings and took a
ride on the canals in a glass top
boat Spring in Holland means
miles of tulip fields arc in bloom
and they visited the famous
Kcukcnhof Gardens. Among
other high spots in Holland was
a visit to The Hague and the
miniature towns of Maduro
dam. Rotterdam and Delft.
In Belgium they visited Bruy
sels, Ghent and Bruges where
they toured the lace shops,
many famous palaces and ca-
thedrals.
On the drive from Belgium to
Paris they toured the Mumm
Brewery where champagne is
made. Their guide through the
brewery was a young lady from
Texas who was excited to see
fellow Texans
Paris. Who can explain this
exciting city? Walking down

riding in a glass covered boat
down the River Seine, visiting
the Eiffel Tower. Arch of
Triumph, Notre Dame Cathe

The weather was ideal, rain-
ing only in spots during travel
from one country to another
On their last day in Paris they
visited the American Embassy
