EDITORIAL
A Youth Center is a wonderful
institution in any town. It gives
the young people of the town
fome place to go, something to
do, and a place to meet each
other.
A youth center should e a lively
place, one where something is al-
ways happening. There are nume-
rous projects that can be success-
fully undertaken by a youth cen-
i or.-
The young people in Mathis
have waited a long time for their
youth center and on February 12,
they will have it for the first

FASHIONS
The boys around here are just
waiting for their latest fashion
to comei n; the football jacket,
that is. Every day we see some
mighty isad looking boys and it is
all because the jackets aren’t
here.

should be self-governing. It
should be a shining example of
democracy at work; of people
working together for their com-
mon gocd, or in this case, for
their common fun.
Youth centers are increasing in
number in Texas. They are be-
coming more and more popular
every day as communities realize
that they are beneficial to all con-
cerned with them. Beeville is a
good example of this. Their youth
center is fairly new and .it is the
most popular place in town. All
the young people belong, and not
just in name. They are enthusias-
tic members, devoting their time,
energy and ther resources to it
and in return are getting plenty
of wholesome fun out of it.
American young people are the
finest in the wrld. They only
need suitable places for recrea-
tion and leadership. A youth cen-
ter fills the need for such a place
as thus.
