Shower For Mrs. J. R.
Peach
Mcsclnmrs Joe B. Whatley and
l.the! Christian were joint hostesses
last 7 hursday at a pretty shower
for Mrs. J R. Peach, recent bride.
I he shower was held at the What-
ley ranch home north of town.
I he honoree was the recipient of
many lovely and appropriate gifts.
A salad course was served.
A protest was recently made by
Fort Worth against the proposed
sale of power to be produced at
the Possum Kingdom Dam north
of Palo Pinto. As a result an in-
vestigation of the potential power
to he generated at the dam was
made, and it was learned that
power generated at the dam when
finished would not be enough to
supply a city of 10,000 inhabitants
and during flood times the power
might have to be entirely shut off
Possum Kingdom Dam, at peak
production periods, would not be
capable of suppplying a city with
power, the size of Fort Worth.
Investigation of the contract to
sell the potential power was made
by the City Council after Claude
Spratling, attorney, urged a protest
against ratification by the U. S.
Government of the agreement be-
tween the district and the Texas
Power & Light Company.
It was pointed out that the dis-
trict’s primary purpose is flood
control, and the creation of wafer
supplies, creation of irrigation
sources and generation of power.
I he second of the dams, to be
erected in Bell County, will have
no power production equipment.
