Texas Mother
Praises Nurse
There isn’t a mother living
who won’t agree that no half-
sick child should be the sub-
ject of an experiment with me-
dicines of t unchain merit.
When your chilcUis bilious,f
j headachy, hah-sitkr'- feverish, j
restless, with coa^e^i tongue,
I bad breath, no appfetite or en-j
! ergy, you know that nine. ti- i
I mes out of ten it’s a sign hir-!
1 little stomach and bowels need i
: purging. And when you know
that for over fifty years lead-
ing physicians have endorsed
one preparation for this con-
dition, there doesn’t seem to
be any reason for “trying”
things.
Rich, fruity California Fig
Syrup clears the little stbmach i
and bowels gently, harmlessly
and in a hurry. It regulates!
the bowels, gives tone and
strength to them and to the
stomach; and helps to give
your child new strength, ener-
gy and vitality. Thousands of
Texas mothers praise. Mrs. Va
lerie Adams, 1052 Castro St.,
San Antonio says: “I’ll never
forget the nurse who got me
to give my baby boy, .John
California Fig Syrup. Nothing
else seemed to help his bow-
eis which were left weak af-i
ter an attack of measles. That
i was when he was just eight-
! een months old. He suffered
! for many months before I
; gave him Fig Syrup, but it
j stopped his trouble quick. I
; have used it with him for colds
i and little upset spells ever
; since. I consider him a “Fig
Syrup baby.”
Insist on the genuine article.
See that the carton bears the
word “California.” Over four
million bottles used a year.

JUNE CLEARANCE SALE
Starts Saturday June 9th,
And Continuing for 14 Sensational
Selling Days
THE REASON Or THIS SALE!
The reasons for this sale are many
and adequate. Due to conditions pre-
vailing and the backwardness of the
season, our stocks are out of all propor-
tion in size, and if we are to continue
our policy of keeping abreast of the ti-
mes and seasons these stocks must be
reduced, must be sacrificed, all thoughts
of profits must be forgotten in this effort
to get our stock and business back to
normal and seasonable basis.
We have given much thought to the
problem which has confronted us du-
ring the past few months and after ma-
ture deliberation we decided on the step
we haye taken, that of sacrificing our
profits even taking a net loss on many
items, and giving our patrons and the
public the benefit of the situation which
has made this sale adivsable, even nece-
ssary.
And we realize that the farmer, the
housekeeper, the buying public, is also
apprehensive of the conditions which
confront this section. This is a period of
uncertainty for all and we know that
every dollar spent now must be made to
go as far as possible.
So, combining these conditions yours
and ours we decided upon the step we
are taking, that of unloading good mer-
chandise at a sacrifice unheard of in the
business annals of this section.
MANY BARGAINS NOT LISTED
It is impossible for us to quote prices
on every article in this bie June Clear-
ance Sale. There will be ‘hundreds and
hundreds of other items at equal low
price that we cannot quote here. We
feel sure, that the public knows that
when Ahrens puts on a sale that they
always find the store brimful of real
