To Begin September 20

final atiangemcnts for the Festi-
val of Chnstian Proclamation at
McMuir College
I The festival will feature six
sessions Sept 20-23 with Mau-
rice King and Jack Gray as
speakers.
King a member of the United
Methodist Church received his
Bacheloi of Science degree from
Rust College Holly Springs Mis-
sissippi and his Bacheloi of Divi-
nity from Gammon Theologica.
Seminary Atlanta Georgia. He
is the author of Soul and Soil
a book about the devotional life
of George Washington Carver.
Gray graduated from North
Texas State University in 1051
with a B S in Education maj-
oring in psychology speech and
sociology. He attended Perkins
School of Theology of SM.U.
receiving a Bachelor of Divinity
degree in 1954 and followed this

Richard Aguirre occupies post
No. 1 as president and Donna
Ilobnrt has the number 2 po-
sition as Veep. Secretory for the
class will be Kay McMenamy.
Richard son of Mr. and Mrs.
Den R. Aguirre of San Antonio
is a graduate of Abilene High
School. While attending AHS
Richard was active as student
council representative reporter
of his senior class and sports
editor of the school newspaper.
In addition he was a member
of the first Human Relations
Committee formed by the Abi-
lene Independent School District
and belonged to the Chumbcr of
Commerce "Operation Main-
stream." Richard made history at McM
by becoming the first freshman
president to come out of the
"pit" of Gold Star Dorm. He is
by special study at the same
school in 1001. He is a member
of the National Association of
Conference Evangelists of the
United Methodist Chutch
Also on the program ar "The
Hawiians" a musical duo con-
sisting of Mark and Diane Yas-
uhtira Their lepertoirc encom-
passes the classical compositions
of Handel and Puccini the con-
temporary sounds of the Fifth
Dimension songs and dances of
Hawaii and tiaditional and mod-
ern hymns and Gospel songs
Gretchen says "our thinking
in making it a festival was so
we could get the feelings of moie

Three Facility Members
Chosen Outstanding Educators
Three members of the McMur-
ry College faculty have been
chosen Outstanding Educators of
America for 1971. They are Dr
W. Norton Jones Jr Charles Ely
and Dr. Virgil E. Bottom.
Dr. Jones is professor of che-
mistry and chairman of the div-
ision of science and mathematics
at McMurry. He earned his PhD
from John Hopkins University
His many scientific publications
include an inorganic chemistry
textbook and three laboratory
manuals.
Dr Bottom is professor of phy
a political science major and
states that one of his goals as
president is to "unite and or-
ganize the freshman class."
Vice president Donna Hobart
is the daughter of Lt. Col. and
Mrs. Don Hobart Holloman Air
Force Base In New Mexico Don-
nu is a graduate of Alamogordo
High School New Mexico and is
majoring in French.
In high school she served on
the student council sophomore
class council senior class coun-
cil and was active in the pep
squad. Donna received a Special
Honors Scholarship from Mc-
Murry. Kay McMenamy of Lubbock
Coronado ran unopposed as sec-
retory of the freshman class. Kay
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James McMenamy Lubbock. A
music major Kay participated
in band orchestra and National
Honor Society while in high
school.

retired as a lieutenant colonel
in the U.S. Army before joining
the McMurry administration.
