In the MSG column last week there was a hypotheti-
cal situation concerning McMurry's weekly dance the
Social Hall. It seems that only people this fictitious
McMurry student could meet were from one of the other
locnl colleges
Tcrran Taylor author of the column ventured that
nhout 50rJ of McMurry's students had had such an en-
counter. Hut it seems to me that for all those McMurry
students who attend the weekly event this happens
closer to 95f r of the time

Let's face it McMurry students are being driven
away from their own dances. And. the main reason for
this problem i the jam-packed crowd of non-McMurry
people at the dance.
No guy wants to come stand in a crowded hot room for
four hours and hope thnt he can find someone he knows
to dance with And. no girl wants to come sit in that
same crowded hot room hoping to see (much less be
asked to dance byi someone she knows.
The only reason our dance is so attractive to our
fellow collegians is. lhat they can rest assured that at
least half ol their student body will be here.
Well something has got to change' After all Social
Hall i.s OUH danco and it's gotten to where we don't
want to use it anymore.
We've goi to find n way to bring McMurry back to
THEIR dance and still trv to be "Mr. Nice Guy" to our
friends from ACU and H-SU
It would he nice if wo could move Social Hall into n
bigger room. But. dancing in the aisles of Radford Au-
torium doesn't appeal to me ver much. And the acous-
tics of Hunt P E Center or Old Indian gym would make
the MSG'b fine sound vstem sound like a loud transis-
tor radio
We could tr-- mising th price of Non-McMuny ad-

INDIAN INSIGHT
INTQ... 3?

Mary Gooch has done some research for us about Grant
Teaff former head football coach at McMurry and presently
head coach at Baylor. Here's some of what she came up with.
On September 28 1963 in Monroe LA Coach Teaff his
team and staff learned a togetherness few people ever know.
This occurred after the football game had ended.
After losing the football game Teaff and his team boarded
an American Flyers twin engine DC-3 for their return flight
to Abilene. Not only were the passengers fuming about the
game but also about their late take-off.
In their haste to make up lost time the take off was Bloppy
and after a few seconds in the air Coach Teaff realized that
the pilot was hending back to the runway for a landing. The
pilot had come to the stark realization the moment he tried to
lift olf the ground that the elevators on the tail section were
still locked.
The landing was attempted but failed. The only alternative
was to fly to the Strategic Air Command base at Shrcveport
and try a belly landing. The flight took thirty minutes. When
the enched the base the runway wus not foamed so the belly
lunding was extremely dangerous. As the plane touched the
runway the right prop dug into the concrete tore away from
the plane and sailed of into space. The right engine burst into
flames and the right wing began to burn. Finally the plane
enmo to a stop. Teaff kicked open the back door and every
team and staff member escaped without injury.
Later the tenm decided to form n club in symbolism of their
harrowing experience. The team decided on "Brotherhood of
Indian Belly-Landing Experts." Ironically the beginning
letters of the five words spell B.I.B.L.E. Each team and staff
member including Coach Teaff carry a card with the ab-
breviated word on it. In 1988 these men will get together for
the 25 th anniverBury of the crash and will share their experi-
ences in life since the event.
Believing that God hns a plan a purpose und a will for
every life these men are convinced that they have been given
u second chance to live life to its fullest.

Play Opens
Next Week
McMurry's last major produc-
tion of the season will have its
opening night on February 16
and will also be showing on the
17 and on the 18. The spring
production will kTIw Importance
OfBeitu; Ernest a comedy written
by Oscar Wilde
Written and set in the yeur
1895 the play will try to capture
the feeling of that period with its
costumes and scenery. While
sets will not be emphasized to a
great degree the costumes in
the production will be the most
difficult to make of any play in
the 1977-78 school year.
The play which according to
Kim Stone is a clussicul satire
and is "a trivial comedy for seri-
ous people". Now in ita third
week of production the play has
a strong cast und will offer a
noticeable contrast with the
productions of last semester
states Miss Stone
Tickets went on sale February
6 and are priced at $2.50 for
adults and $1.50 for students to
get a tuste of English drama.
"Plays arc meant to be seen not
read " she adds. Miss Stone re-
gards the drama as an asset for
English Majors who have first
read the play and will now have
a chance to see it on stage.
Some tickets have already
been ordered and the response
to the piny hns been good. Cast
members for the production are:
Buster Moloney Darrell Wof-
ford Cindy Mnloney Carolyn
