Baytown in a double ring cere-
mony June 9 at Trinity Taberna-
cle in Baytown with the Rev.
JameS E. Smith officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Gilbert of Bay-
town. She is die granddaughter
of Marie Baldowski and Albina
Gilbert of Baytown and the late
August Baldowski and John
Gilbert.
Parents of the groom are
Boyd and Alice Breeding of
Baytown.
For her wedding the bride
chose a floor-length designer
gown of white silk schiffli lace
featuring a fitted bodice that
rose to a portrait neckline. The
pouffed sleeves were beautifully
adorned with bridal pearls and
sequins over scattered motifs of
lace.
The very full skirt featured a
large motif on the front and cas-
caded into a cathedral-length
train adorned with lace motifs
covered in bridal pearls and se-
quins and edged with a three-
tiered schiffli lace border. The
back of the skirt was enhanced
with a bustle which was also
edged with a schiffli lace border.
To complete the look of ele-
gance, the bride chose a crown
of pearls enhanced with crystals
which was attached to a finger-
tip length veil. The pouf at the
back of the crown was adorned
with sequins.
The bride carried a cascading
bouquet of orchids, white roses
and English ivy.
The mother of the bride chose
a tea-length dress of mauve pink
satin with a belted waistline for
enhancement. She wore match-
ing heels to complete her
ensemble. *
The mother of the groom
selected a dress of aqua-blue
lace and sadn which featured a
high-low hemline. The basque
bodice and long fitted sleeves
were covered with a lace
overlay.
Attending die bride as matron
of honor was Robin Slagle of
Anaheim, Calif. Bridesmaids
were Peri Patterson of Lancas-
ter, Dawn Terry, Jan Mongiello
and Sharon Ross, all of
Baytown.
■ The matron of honor and
bridesmaids were attired in tea-
length aqua-blue gowns of satin
which featured dropped waist-
lines, V necklines and puffed
sleeves. Bows adorned the
shoulders with a large bow fea-
tured at the waist in the back.
Each attendant wore matching
satin shoes and a single strand of
pearls.
They earned nosegays con-
sisting of pink silk tea roses,
peach blossoms, baby’s breath
and bridal pearls with white and
pink lace and satin streamers.
They wore headbands of pink
silk flowers to match the

head was adorned with a wreath
of white silk flowers and pearls.
She carried a white basket of

Best man was Robert Kostner
Jr. of Wheaton, 111., friend of the
groom. Groomsmen were Gary
Graham of Roselle, 111., Jimmy
Campbell of Pearland, brother
of the groom; John Faeber of
Dallas and Louis Garcia of Bay-
town. Ushers were Billy Fergu-
son of Dallas and H.D. Kennedy
and Nick Soknich, both of
Baytown.
The groom wore a designer
tuxedo which featured a white
coat with black trousers, a tie
and cummerbund.
The groomsmen and ushers
were attired in black designer
tuxedos with black ties and
cummerbunds.
Flower girl was Amy Fowler
of Baytown and the ring bearer
was Barrett Tate Of Anaheim,
Calif.
The flower girl wore a white
tea-length dress featuring pouf
Sleeves and a ruffle-edged skirt
overlay which swept to a bow at
the back of the bodice to display
the ruffle's under the skirt. Her
pink silk sweetheart roses, aza-
jeas and peach blossoms with
white satin bows on each side
for accent.
The ring bearer wore a desig-
ner tuxedo which featured a
white coat with black trousers,
tie and cummerbund, to match
the groom’s. He carried a white
satin and lace pillow topped
with tiny white and pink silk
roses and double rings. Pink and
white ribbon streamers cascaded
down from the center of the
pillow.
The church was decorated
with votive candelabrum ar-
ranged in a half circle. A votive
tree, trimmed with fresh green-
ery and pink and white mixed
flowers, was centered and rose
above a large spray of pink gla-
dioli and carnations set on a
Grecian column.
The spirals and standard can-
delabrum, also trimmed with
greenery and flowers, were
placed on each side of the tree.
Large ferns set on short columns
completed the half circle.
Smaller ferns also adorned the
area.
The white double kneeling
bench was placed in die center.
Both aisles of the cHurch were
laced with lighted globes
trimmed with fresh greenery and
pink bows with cascading
streamers. The white column
unity candle stand, designed and
constructed by the bride’s
father, was trimmed with green-
ery and white silk roses.
Providing music for the occa-
sion were organist Vida Smith,
pianist Debbie Mulkey, flautists
Laurie Stroud and Don and Beth
Wiehe, soloist, Jimmy Stroud
and duets sung by Mark and Re-
nee Jenkins.
Special selections included
“If, sung by Mark and Renee
Jenkins and “I Could Never
Promise You,” sung by Jimmy
Stroud. A flute selection of “The
Wind Beneath My Wings” was
played during the lighting of the
unity candle. The bridal march
was played by Vida Smith.
A reception was held in the
Blue Room of the fellowship
center of the church.
Houseparty members, in-
cluded Carla Winegart of
League City, Dana Gainer of
Dallas, Mamey Essoh of Beau-
mont, Debbie Mulkey, Dana
Chaplin, Cathy Sanders, Joh-
nelle Franklin and Debbie
Schoppa, all of Baytown.
The bride’s rectangular table
featured a scalloped lace over-
lay. The bride’s cake was cen-
tered between two candelabrum
holding tall tapers which were
accented with pink silk and
white flowers to complement the
cake. Fresh greenery draped
down to the comers of the table
to merge with silk flowers and
pink bows accented with ribbon
streamers. The bride’s cake was
encircled with greenery and vot-
ive candles.
The bride’s cake consisted of
a three-tiers decorated with pink
silk roses. Silk flowers were fea-
tured between the columns of
each tier. The top of the cake
was accented with a nosegay of
pink silk flowers, ribbon stream-
ers and bridal pearls.
The groom’s rectangular table
was draped with white net and
tulle. A large candelabrum was
• placed at the center of the table
with the groom’s cake and a
silver coffee service at either
end. Greenery draped down
from the candelabrum onto the
table which was decorated with
votive candles.
The groom’s cake consisted
of a double heart of chocolate
with almonds which was topped
with cherries.
Hors d’oeuvreS were served
from a large table decorated in
the center with an elevated
silver candelabrum featuring
votive cups and aqua-blue and
pink silk flowers.
The silver punch bowl setting
on a circular table draped with
white net and tulle was centered
under a large crystal chandelier
placed before a double-walled
mirror. Punch was also served
from a fountain placed in an ad-
joining room.
Guest tables were decorated
with arrangements of silk ivy
and pink sweetheart roses sur-
rounded by votive candles.
The bridal portrait was dis-
played on a golden easel at the
entrance of die reception hall.
Out-of-town guests included
Mr, and Mrs, Donald Dial, Mr
and Mrs. David *DialT Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Speny and Glenn and
Lany, all of Austin; Mr. and
Mrs. Oseas Vayquez of La Sail,
HI., Carol Kostner of Wheaton,
111., and Jo Anne Faerber of
Dallas.

The bride is a graduate of Ste-
phen F. Austin State ^University
m Nacogdoches and is currently
employed by the Fleming Com-
pany in Houston as a retail ac-
counting supervisor.
The groom is a graduate of
the College of Du Page and is
employed by Shell Research as
a research technician.
Following a wedding trip to
Padre Island, the couple reside
in Baytown.

MR. AND MRS. James N. Coombes of Mont Belvieu will
celebrate their 50th anniversary with a garden party at 7
p.m. Aug. 25th at the home of their daughter in Houston.
Their children include Col. Jim Coombes of Rome, Italy;
Yvonne Granger and Linda Stevens, both of Houston; and
Jerri Salter of Dayton. They have seven grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren. Coombes was employed by
Brown & Root, Inc. for 15 years.
