Mize of Mathis spent Tuesday
in Alice with Mrs. J. Riley, a
niece.
Mrs. Bonnie Station was an
overnight guest in the home of
her sister, Mrs. Vail Ennie in
Beeville Thusday.
Mrs. R.E. Stalcup and Mrs.
Alvin Spiekerman spent from
Monday until Thursday in Hous-
ton where they visited Mrs.
Jack Clark, who is with her hus-
band who is a patient in Metho-
dist Hospital. They also visited
the county attorney, Joe Ternus,
who is a patient at M. D. An-
derson Medical Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lucken-
bach, Jr. of Tuleta visited his
■mother Mrs. Aj.A. Luckenbach,
and Mr. and Mrs. Royce Reed
here Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. T. J.
Reed of Corpus Christi were al-
so dinner guests in the Reed
home. The two couples also at-
tended the funeral services for
W. A. Stein.
Harold Nixon of Bishop attend-
ed funeral services for W. A.
Stein and later visited his mo-
ther, Mrs. T. T. Nixon Tuesday.
Other guests in the home of Mrs.
Nixon were Mrs. Birdie Mc-
Bride of Little Rock, Ark., and
her daughter, Mrs. Andy Myers
of Corpus Christi.
Mrs. Betty Atkinson attended
a dinner honoring her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Morris on
their 47th w’edding anniversary
Sunday in the Morris home.
Mrs. Arthur Bickham of Odem
and her daughter, Mrs. Phil Pe-
terson, and Tricia of Portland
spent two days last week in the
Hill Country.
Mr. and Mrs- Dewey Lawhon
of Robstown visited his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lawhon,
and his sister, and family Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Bickham and
children, Sunday.

spent Sunday with her father,
Charles Atkinson in Calallen.
Mrs. Mary Boggus and Mrs.
Theda Welch had as their guests
Thursday Mrs. Roy Fuqua of
Portland. On Sunday Mr. and
Mrs. A. W. Taber of Corpus
Christi visited them and Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Youngblood of
Harlingen stopped for a visit as
they were enloute to Houston to
be with their son who had eye
surgery in a Houston hospital
Monday.
Miss Cynthia Atkinson of Cal-
allen and Miss Barbara McCain
of Annaville were guests of Mrs.
Betty Atkinson Thursday night
and attended the Odem-Agua
Dulce junior high football game
with her.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Spradley
had as their guests Sunday Mr.
and Mrs. G.A'. Spradley of Eagle
Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sprad-
ey of Refugio, Macom Sprad-
ey and Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Lowe
of Corpus Christi and Mr. and
Mrs. J.T. Whitey.
Mrs. Sammie Teague and
daughters of Gonzales arrived
Monday for a visit with her pa-
rents, Mr. and Mrs. John T.
Whitey.
Mrs. Nell Smith had as her
guests ‘Sunday her nephew and
famiy, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Scriv-
ener and chidren of Houston,
Mrs. Emma Garcia and Cynthia
and Mr. and Mrs. Cemetrio Pe-
rez.
Mrs. Julia Pyle is visiting her
her daughter, Mrs. George San-
dars, and family in Pearland.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cleve-
land and children of Houston
spent the week-end visiting their
parents, Mrs. W.B. Cleveland in
Odem and Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Green in Refugio.
Austins Are Back
From Vacation Trip
Mr. and Mrs. A1.B. Austin ar-
rived home Tusday from a vaca-
tion trip. They were joined on
the trip in Houston by his cou-
sins, Mrs. Ray Galatians, and
they went to Oklahoma for a
visit with an aunt, Mrs. W.B.
Austin, for a trip along a route
which the Austin families had
followed in 1914. The route led
to Tinkiller Lake, where the
group spent one night.
They returned to Houston
where Mr. and Mrs. Austin visit-
ed their son and family, Mr. and
Mrs. James Austin and children.
They attended a junior high
school football game while there
and saw their grandson, Wade
Austin, play, with his school
team winning the game.
School Menu
Monday: Fish sticks, whipped
potatoes baked beans, celery
sticks, batter bread and choco-
late pudding.
Tuesday: Sloppy Joe, potato
salad, pinto beans, pickle re-
lish and pineapple upside down
cake.
Wednesday: Steak and gravy,
hash brown potatoes, English
peas, tomato wedges, hot rolls
and jello.
Thursday: Lasagne, green
Jjeans, slaw, hot rolls and peach
halves.
Friday: Turkey pot pie, tossed
salad potatoes au gratin, and
peanut butter cookies.
Attend Meeting
Mrs. Wanda LaRochelle, home
economics teacher, and Mrs.
Betty Atkinson attended a plann-
ing meeting for the FHA show
which will be held in January.
The meeting was held Tuesday
night at the Woman’s Building
on the county show grounds in
Sinton. The women are on the
food and clothing committee.
Training Union
Has Activities
The Young People’s depart-
ment of the Baptist Training Un-
ion held a covered-dish supper
the education building Sunday
with 25 attending.
The same department will
have a Halloween party on Oc-
tober 25. The members and
guests will attend in costume. A
scavenger hunt will make up the
entertainment.
Sponsors are Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Webb and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Thornton, Jr. Mrs. Don
Horne and Mrs. Bill Daughtrey
are to assist the sponsors with
details for the Halloween party.
Family Reunion
Held on Sunday
The famiy of Mrs. Minnie
Oelschlegel of Mathis held a re-
union in the home of her son,
Frank Oelschlegel, and family
of Edroy Sunday. The group
met in the Oelschlegel home in
Edroy following the morning
church services and had a bar-
becue dinner.

and children of Mathis; Mrs.

Skidmore and Don Rylant, for-
merly of Skidmore but now of

Mrs. Janet Sehibi and children
of Odem and the hosts, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Oelschlegel and chi-
dren of Edroy.
Coes Return From
Pzark Mountains
Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Coe have
returned from a Vacation trip
which took them on a sightsee-
ing trip through a portion of
the Ozark Mountains in west
Arkansas and eastern Okla-
homa.
On previous vacation trips Mr.
and Mrs. Coe have traveled
through the Missouri section of
the Ozarks “Each trip to ^he
Ozarks brings new pleasure and
new scenes”, said Mrs. Coe.
They visited in Russelleville
Ark., and on their return trip
they left Iklahoma and came
through Wichita Falls & Kerr-
ville. They found the trees and
other foliage changing color
along the way.
