Was Pure Entertainment
By MARIEA BELLINGER
Entertainment Editor
The 1986 Homecoming Show
was a regalia to behold Tun and
excitement don't totally describe
the frolic that occurred last rriday
night. Perhaps the word "entertain-
ment" docs justice to the talent
that appeared on stage in Radford
Auditorium.
First place in the competition
went to Terry Hampton and Dirk
Hedges. Second place went to Pug
Parris's aerobics class and third
place went to Mike Powers and
Rodney Weldon
Kerry Patton led off die compe-
tition by singing a love song of his
own creation to his fiancee. Mary
Lynn Thompson sang with piano
accompaniment The memorable
thing about Mel's performance was
her black dress diamond drop car-
rings and long black feather boa
The Ballard Brothers Lanny Ron
and Rob sang three ballads with
charming harmony Suzic Sharp and

Pi Phi Repeats As Tipi
Village Champions
By LESLIE L. KINLEN

They did it agalnl The women of
Pi Delta Phi took first place in the
Tipi Village competition for the
second year In a row.
"It felt wonderful" said Beth
I lamaty who along with Vliki Lay-
ton was in iliarge.
Beth felt there were three main
factors that contributed to the
club's victory The first was deter-
mination Pi Ptii wanted to put all
the rumors that were said about
them last year to rest. Club mem-
bers wanted people to know that
they didn't win last year just be-
cause they had an Indian in their
club
As Vicki Layton put it "It ain't no
fluke."
Second every single person in
the club contributed. There wasn't

one Individual who carried it all It
was a team effort This year Pi Ilii
started early and worked hard right
up until Homecoming
The last but certainly not the
least factor was preparation.
"All the clubs arc getting so
good it takes extra effort and extra
research" said Beth Hamaty. "Most
clubs have the putting together of
the tipi down. The tipi isn't the
hard part anymore It's the infor-
mation artifacts and the presenta-
tion that arc important Those arc
the key things" Beth said.
Beth wishes that the clubs would
be more willing to pull everything
out for the kids as well as for the
judges After all Tipi Village really
is for them
Placing second In the Tipi Vil-
lage competition was Ko Sari men's
club The women of Alpha Psl
