The McMurry University Indians
shot a final round 305 to capture the
Texas Intercollegiate Athletic
Association golf championship by
19 strokes over the defending Hardin-
Simmons University Cowboys.
McMurry who entered the final
36 holes of the 72 hole tournament
with a ten stroke lead over HSU shot
a 3 13 in the third round at the par 72
Fairway Oaks Golf & Racquet Club
to take a IS stroke margin into the
final round. The Indians recorded
rounds of 3 12-3 15 in the opening 36
holes in Sherman last week.
Greg Sigler fired a closing round
of 76 to earn medalist honors with a
301 total. Freshman Nathan Taylor
carded a 7 1 to place fourth with 1 309
total. Sophomore Brian Danko fired
a 79 to finish in sixth place. Senior
Scott Findley had an 83 and finished
in 1 lth place. Sophomore Jason Hutt
rounded out the scores with a 79
and a 12th place finish.
The golf team now advances
to the District VIII Tournament in
Wichita Falls. If they win there
they would advance to the national
tournament in Tulsa Oklahoma.
