Mrs. Mellsa Virginia, Thorp, 77,
died at her itome. 407 Milton street.
Friday morning. The body was
taken care of by the Kldnnls Fun-
eral Home and will be sent over-
land to Thorp 8 or mgs, Texas. Sat-
urdav morning. Funeral services
will be held at Thorp Springs at 1
p. m. Saturday. Rev. Walker of
the Oranbtiry Methodist church of-
ficiating. She U survived by three
sons. John of Thorp Springs. Pleas
bf Oranbury and D. N, Thorp of*
OreonvlB*. New Mexico, one daugh-
ter. Mrs. W. L. Thomas of Brown-
wood.
Meliaaa Virginia Oarland was
bom In Henderson county, .tVxaa,
I May I. I$M . Her family moeed to
Hood county tn her early childhood,
and she lived there most of her life.'
While* still a girl she waa conv^t-
rd and joined the Christian church,
and held her membership In the
Thorp Springs church at the time of
her dekth. In 1867 she waa married
to J. O. Thorp, and to this union
nine children were bom. four of
them surviving her. together with
leVen grandchildren and two great-
grand children. Mr. Thorp died at
Thbrp Springs several year* ago.
F>r several year* Mrs. Thorp had
made her home with her daughter,
Mrs. Thomas, here, and during the
last six years was an invalid. Dur-
ing her long period of suffering she
was a sweet patient and was sus-
tained by her unswerving faith
which carried her on to the hour of
her passing / *
