presentations of their theses
or opuses.
Amanda Pay ton an English
major presented selections
from her opus "A Poet's
Peace." Payton's opus di-
rector was Dorothy Sheldon
instructor of English.
Michele Anderson
Schmidt a political science
major defended her thesis
"Kissinger's Philosophy of
Realpolitik and Diplomatic
Praxis: A Historical Ap-
proach to Henry Kissinger."
Schmidt's thesis director was
Dr. John Farrenkopf assistant
professor of political science.
Claudia Gravier a history
and Englishmajor discussed
her thesis entitled "Teyuwit:
A Commanche Life." Direc-
tors for Gravier'sproject were
Dr. Don Frazier assistant
professor of history and Dr.
Doris Miller assistant pro-
fessor of English.

may be in the form of basic
research or may involve an
original creative effort. The
projects are under the direc-
tion of faculty members and
are closely scrutinized by
the Honors Committee.
They must involve critical
thinking display skills that
exceed those of average stu-
dents and reflect the
quality of work that is re-
quired for the honors
designation. Work may
be in a specific discipline
or may involve interdisci-
plinary effots. Both a
written and oral presen-
tation is required.

Government senate positions
were held on Tuesday April 11.
Jeremy 'Ross won the position.
of senior class president for the
1995-96 term. Senior senators

Ronald Henderson will serve
as president of the junior class.
Class senators include Michael
Gilliland Stuart Gill Daniel Al-

building bombed
A nine-story federal build-
ing in Oklahoma City was
bombed. Preliminary reports
listed scores dead and injured.
As of press time no group had
claimed responsibility. Mus-
lim terrorists and followers of
David Koresh have been
mentioned as possible sus-
pects. President Clinton sent
emergency aid and officials
immediately.

year. On Monday eight
criminals were beheaded.
Lifoerians massacred
The United Nations re-
ported that men with
machetes and chain saws
killed 62 mostly women and
chldren in an atttack on a vil-
lage in the western part of the
wartorn African nation of
Liberia. No possible motives
for the attack had been re-
leased. Swiss police
agreement signed
The U.S. and Switzerland
signed anagreement Tuesday
to establish a Swiss police
presence onUnitedStates soil.

Intramural sports are rap-
idly winding up thier com-
petitions for the 1994-95
school year.
The men's soccer tourna-
ment concluded onThursday
April 13 with the final game
between the men of MA-
KONA and the Ko Sari "A"
team. MAKONA was the
overall winner by a final score
of 3-1.
The women's final was de-
cided on April 12 in a close
game with T.I.P. coming out
a winner over Delta Beta.
Pool and Ping-Pong tour-
naments are currently going
on. An all night wiffle ball
tournament has been sched-
uled for this past weekend.
In the overall standings the
women's championship is too
close to call. T.I.P. Delta Beta
and the Rude Dogs remain
locked in competition.
The men are led by KTVA
followed by Ko Sari and
MAKONA.
Following the conclusion of
the ping-pong and pool tour-
naments the winning clubs
will be announced.
The deal will help cut down
on drug trafficking and
money laundering.
Secretary of
Agriculture visits
United States Secretary of
Agriculture Dan Glickman
visited McMurry en April
18 to participate in a forum.
The forum was one of six
being held across the nation
as a precursor to President
Clinton's addressing the na-
tion on Wednesday from
Ames Iowa.
Glickman listened as
farmers and ranchers voiced
concern over a variety of
problems that they face on a
daily basis.
U.S. Representative
Charles Stenholm also par-
ticipated in the forum.
