DON T GO IT BLIND when you start to buy furniture. It is juTt
as easy to pay too little for yur purchase as too much. Real values con-

pay. We think you will find after investigation that this store offers

Dynamiter Threatens Capitol. Antis Will Not file Account.
Washington, August 2. —The
police and secret service men
of Washington are actually un-
easy because.of an anonymous
letter received by Speaker Clark
wherein the writer threatened
to blow up the capitol if Con-
gress does not start a navy yard
investigation. Ordinarily such
letters from cranks are .given
but slight consideration, but the
peculiar'tone of this one caused
the officers to redouble the vigil-
ance of guarding the national
building.
The writer described himself
as a discharged navy employe,
grossly wronged, and said he
would avenge himself, do matter
what the cost m life and proper-
ty iti'ay be._

HHches Wife to Plow.
Kansas City, Mo., Aug. 3.
Because her hysband hitched her
to a harrow‘beside a team of
mules and drove her around a'
cornfield, Mrs. Lafayette Choate
has filed suit for divorce and
custody of her children.
. She declared her husband tied
..her Hands behind her,..drove her
four times around the field, and
when she stumbled and fell he
beat her with a club.
She says she loves him still.
Cliiggers and Mosquitos.
Are now in their glory—their
business is good and they are
happy. There is no earthly use
of your lettjng them chew on you
if you don’t like their ways. A
little Hunt’s Lightning Oil ap-
plied to exposed parts will keep
them off, and immediately relieve
the irritation caused by their
bites. Rub a little on and see
for yourself.

Ask For Investigation.
Fort Worth, Texas, Aug. 2. —
Since the conference of prohibi-
tionists in this city Saturday a
slight ‘uneasiness has been felt
lest the Austin conference might
not be so prudent. However, it
is now known that the utmost
hafmony and unity of purpose
prevails, and the friends of the
cause now present a solid front
in demanding a legislative in-
vestigation of the relation of the
liquor interests to the politics
and elections of Texas, and a
determination to “see the books’
of the anti organization.
It the present program is car-
ried out, a legislative investiga-
tion'will be attempted, the prop-
er resolution now being in the
hands of a pro Senator.

county for Freestone county land, $5,000.00
gin plant in Bell county for .Freestone county
farm, $30,000.00 brick stores in good cen-
tral Texas town for farm land, and many
other fine trades.
- Call and talk your land proposition over with me. I
can and will make it to your interest, and appreciate your
business, and I give my clients my personal attention.
To Oppose Colquitt.
Austin, Texas, Aug. 3. It
seems a safe gueBS that the pro-
hibitionists will surely make an
effort to defeat Governor Col-
quitt for re-election next year.
All indications point to this con-
clusion, and it is only the fear
that there would be too many
pro aspirants that keeps down a
positive declaration of war on
the Governor.
It is feared that Poindexter,
Johnson, Ball, Cumby Williams
the blacksmith, Judge Brooks,
Dr. Rankin and H. Bascom
Thomas may all get into the
race.
The prq leaders know the. po-
litical game thoroughly however,
‘and they are going to play the
cards to the best advantage, and
it is causing some stir in the
administration-circles.- *

Senator Bailey has again been
grossly misrepresented. This
time the Associated Press is to
blame, it having garbled the
Senator’s statement in which he
gave his reasons for resigning
from certain committees. It ap-
pears that^everybody misrepre-
sents him and lies on him. This
is the thousandth time he has
been misrepresented.

vates the situation, which he thinks
is much worse than is generally
supposed. The farmers are com-
paratively helplefls because they
cannot procure paris green to
poison the insects. As yet the
Eagle has heard no Complaints
from the upland farmers, but if
conditions are not changed it will
be a miracle if they escape. Are
we facing an appalling calamity?
