CHURCH YARD
AT PLEA8ANT GROVE
There Is a Church Yard over
at pleasant Grove. Just an acre
more or less,
Where the Bast winds kiss the
head stones In a lazy soft caress.
Where the lilacs shelter all
who sleep beneath their shade,
Neath the graves grass grown
and hidden. Neath the new ones
freshly made.
Some there are who fought
for Texas In the tragic long
ago. and their Sonk who braved
the world In One and Two.
Those deeds are still unwritten,
seldom told and seldom sung.
Flowers bloom and die at
Pleasant Grove, In that sacred
acre lot. Lilacs and roses linger
lest the sleepers be forgotten.
Here and there a vase holds
a spray of withered bloom. Bits
of colored glass and china
brightens up the somber tomb.
Tls not ours but theirs. The
Title vested by the Will of God.
