Filling Our Make 2007
Heart's Passion Your Best Year
Spring 2007 Chapel
for Life
by Heather N. David
staff writer
What are the colors of our
dreams? What paints our hearts with
passion like the purple red andorange
of the setting sun? What convicts and
moves us to be actively compassionate
on someone else's behalf? What stirs
us filling our hearts with incomplete
contentment because we know that
some others have not received this
gift the gift of Christian love?
My heart's passion is for Africa.
The realization that others hurt and
that we can help is age-old. Vincent
Van Gogh asked the question "How
can I be useful of what service can I
be? There is something inside me
what can it be?"
Most of us who read the Brand
are students at Hardin-Simmons.
We all know how much it costs. What
about taking a fraction of that amount
to help someone in need? By giving
ten dollars to the Student Movement
for Real Change we can help a child
go to school in South Africa. In Kenya
like many oilier places the water is
undrinkable. In Sudan children are
forcefully taken to serve in the Lord's
Resistance Army or the rebel army.
As early as age eight these innocent
children are given AK-47S as their
toys to shoot others. Even here in the
United States many people each with
a story as in Africa and anywhere else
live without a home craving a morsel
of food or a land word from anyone
willing to show selflessness. Step into
someone else's shoes for a moment
There maybe illegal aliens butthough
illegal they are still worth love. They
still have families to provide for.
Stories of murder violence and
world peace (or the lack of it) are all
over the news and have been since
1980 when Ted Turner started CNN
the first twenty-four hour news sta-
tion. Let's find out what we desire for
the betterment of others and what
excites us and do it fulfilling our
heart's passion and at the same time
helping others in need of love and
compassion.
Ever With
Motivating
Resolutions:
by Julie Teague
staff writer
Every year millions of
Americans make a vow to them-
selves that they will cut out the
bad and incorporate the good into
their lives. However most of us
forget all about these resolutions
by about mid-February. Why is
it that so many of us struggle to
remain driven and devoted to our
resolutions?
Perhaps it is because we
choose resolutions that we are
not motivated to accomplish. If
you don't have the motivation to
accomplish your goal then you
have no real chance at succeed-
ing and you are faced with yet
another year filled with the same
challenges.
But what if you really do want
2007 to be the best year ever? The
first step in attaining that goal is
by setting realistic standards and
timelines that will motivate you to
carry your resolution throughout
the entire year.
Some popular resolutions
include losing weight or exercis-
ing more quitting difficult habits
like smoking or drinking enjoy-
ing life more spending more time
with family and friends learn-
ing something new and help-
ing others. These are all worthy
resolutions that many Americans
do successfully implement into
their lives. However it is impor-
tant to remember that turning a
resolution into a reality demands
personal confidence strong ini-
tial commitment to making the
change and the motivation to
actually see the change come to
fruition.
Remember if you take the
time to follow these steps then you
might just find the key that will
unlock your best year ever.
WHAT SETS YOU
APART IS WHAT MAKES
YOU ONE OF US.
