"Aqua Teen" marketing
causes major disruption in
Boston
Panic ensued in Boston early on Jan.
31 when a concerned citizen reported a
"suspicious device" hanging in a tunnel.
The device was actually a glowing
sign that depicted a character from the
Cartoon Network program, "Aqua Teen
Hunger Force". The sign was meant to
promote the show and had been in Boston
and nine other cities for three weeks.
The signs were treated as possible
bombs, and the security measures that
were taken are expected to cost $500,000.
Turner Broadcasting, the compa-
ny that owns Cartoon Network, has
printed an apology in Boston newspa-
pers and plans to compensate the city for
investigation expenses.
