Reducing plan
for energy users
How to save electricity when
using dishwashers-water heaters
1. Wash full load of dishes
instead of partial loads.
2. Load dishes according to
manufacturer’s instructions for
most efficient operation.
3. LJse dishwasher detergent
only.
4. Keep filter-screen free of food
waste. (Clogged filter causes
unit to overwork.)
5. Repair leaking hot water
faucets. (A small leak can
waste up to 700 gallons a year,
plus the energy used to heat it.)
6. To avoid loss of heat, insulate
exposed hot water pipes
whenever possible. Protect
electric water heater from cold
air as much as possible.
7. Select proper size water heater
for your needs. One that’s too
big uses energy needlessly.
Conserve electricity and you help
conserve one or more of the fuels
needed to produce it: natural gas,
coal and oil. Conserve fuels and
you help assure that there will be
enough to meet essential needs for
electricity in the future.
When you pass a TP&L office,
warehouse, generating plant or
other facility, you’ll see that we’ve
turned off all non-essential lighting.
And, in as many other ways as
possible, TP&L is reducing its own
uses of electricity.
//you would like additional
information on conserving
electricity, call or see the Customer
Service Representative in the
TP&L Office.

For Younger Looking Skin
Smoking is bad for the
skin, according to a study
conducted by a California in-
ternist who concluded that
there is a strong association
between prolonged smoking
and “crew’s feet” wrinkles
around the eyes.

Lubricating the skin does
help, dermatologists agree.
*****
Soaps can be too drying
for skin past the teen years.
Substituting another washing
agent has proved useful in
many cases. pHisoDerm, a
creamy liquid cleanser, is re-
ported to replace natural-oils

lost during washing with ordi-
nary soap, and is therefore
suitable for all age groups
including for those with ma-
ture skin.

Physicians warn against
using hot water routinely for
washing skin. A good skin
cleanser such as pHisoDerm is
effective when used in warm
water, or even cold. Scrub-
bing the skin is advised
against at any age, including
for teenagers.
