News
Pev. West from the Woodson
Baptist Church was in charge of
the Sunday afternoon service.
Several visitors were among
those attending.
Rev. and Mrs. T. S. Cox were
in for the Thursday evening
Bible study.. The United Meth-
odist Church will be in charge
through the month of May.
The usual birthday party for
the month was held Monday
evening for the four who had
birthdays in April. The oldest
was W. E. Cook, 94, who is still
able to be up and go to the table.
Mamie Conner is 88 and gets
around some but hasn’t been so
well. Mrs. Ruth Sorgee was 83
and she gets around so much
better, trying to get ready to go
home. She is recovering from
bad burns. She is a jolly person
to have in the home. Mrs. Ruby
Herod is 75 and able to be up
and around. She was born in
Graford and has lived in this
county 65 years.
Mrs. Wilma McKnight spon-
sored the party and Elmer
Glenn and Lorena Starr fur-
nished the music with some of
the nurses joining in with the
birthday song and other sing-
ing.
Homemake cake, ice cream
and punch were served. The
honored ones received gifts. A
large number from the home
attended, some in wheel chairs.
They all enjoyed the party and
look forward to the one in May.
Mr. and Mrs. Doc Everett of
Cisco visited Bud Jones.
Guests of Ada Collins were
Mr. and Mrs. George Dodson
and Ricky of Burkburnett, also
visiting were Bessie Parrott and
Gertrude Condron.
Ruth and Henry Hext visited
Mr. Perry and Charlie Kelly.
Ada Montgomery and Ruth
Buchanan of California visited
Fany Floy Marrs.
On the guest register were
Essie Sims, Lorena Fowler,
Mrs. Fred Shaw, Hattie Nacol,
Mrs. Bryan, Mrs. A. E.
Cogburn, Esmer Conner, Rev.
and Mrs. Cox, Lorena Kelly and
Ruby Richards.
Mrs. Keeter brought in
beautiful flowers for the rooms
from her own garden.

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Boyd of
Plano were recent visitors here
with his parents.
Mrs. Thomas Boyd reports
that she has a new great-grand-
daughter, daughter of Lee Ann
(Boyd) Crim and husband.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ash were
weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Ronnie Morse and Angie of
Lubbock and Mr. and Mrs. Floy
Ash and Shannon of Tahoka.
Party fetes
THS senior
Miss Charlotte Harrington, a
senior at Throckmorton High
School, was honored with a
Coke party April 22 at the home
of her grandmother, Mrs. Willie
Harrington, with Mrs. Donnie
Harrington of Seymour, aunt of
the honoree, as hostess.
The honoree’s mother, Mrs.
Bobby Harrington, and sister,
Cheryl, were special guests.
Refreshments of Cokes, sand-
wiches, and cupcakes were
served from a table carrying out
the graduate theme. A honey-
comb paper girl graduate
holding a diploma was used as
the centerpiece.
The honoree was presented a
gift by the hostess.
Miss Harrington is senior
class secretary, FHA president,
Commercial Club secretary-
treasurer and a member of the
annual staff. She plans to attend
Midwestern University this fall.
Those attending were Belinda
Johnson, Brenda Rankin, An-
gela Howsley, Katrina Cook,
Sherry Ash, Kim Keeter, Patti
Allen and Kelley and Suzanne
Harrington.

Weatherford visited her mother,
Mrs. Margaret Jackson, Sun-
day.

Haskell visited Mrs. Willie
Cogburn and others Tuesday of

Mrs. Laura Sherman left
Wednesday for Texarkana to be
with her son and his wife.
Mrs. Mattie Stegall left
Thursday for Dallas and other
points in Texas where she is
visiting her children and grand-
children.
Mrs. Lillie Massey visited in
Newcastle last week.
