1 AN ACT
2 relating to public school accountability.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
4 SECTION 1. Section 11.252(a), Education Code, is amended to
5 read as follows:
6 (a) Each school district shall have a district improvement
7 plan that is developed, evaluated, and revised annually, in
8 accordance with district policy, by the superintendent with the
9 assistance of the district-level committee established under
10 Section 11.251. The purpose of the district improvement plan is to
11 guide district and campus staff in the improvement of student
12 performance for all student groups in order to attain state
13 standards in respect to the achievement indicators adopted under
14 Section 39.053(c) [ ]sotion 39.053(c)(-)]. The district
15 improvement plan must include provisions for:
16 (1) a comprehensive needs assessment addressing
17 district student performance on the achievement indicators, and
18 other appropriate measures of performance, that are disaggregated
19 by all student groups served by the district, including categories
20 of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sex, and populations served by
21 special programs, including students in special education programs
22 under Subchapter A, Chapter 29;
23 (2) measurable district performance objectives for
24 all appropriate achievement indicators for all student1
