R V resort community opening here soon
By LOUISE SHAW
Bay Oaks Harbor, a recrea-
tional resort community on Tri-
City Beach Road, is expected to
open in about 30 days, according
to Bookie Bolin, sales manager.
Plans for the project, located
just south of the Houston
Lighting & Power Co. intake
canal on Tri-City Beach Road,
were discussed with city of-
ficials early in 1987.
Baytown Planning Commis-
sion unanimously approved the
final plat for the facility during
their August meeting.
Tom Aikin of Great American
Realty; James Haggard, a Con-
roe attorney; and Texas Bank
Savings are developers of the
facility.
“Our intensions are to develop
this into a highly restricted,
recreational vehicle resort,”
Aikin said in a letter to the com-
mission at that time.
According to Bolin, these in-
tensions have been accomplish-
ed.
The facility, which is a
member of Camp Coast-to-
Coast, will feature a lighted
fishing pier, boat launch, swim-
ming pool, tennis courts,
clubhouse, miniature golf
course, a grocery store, a gas
station and other amenities.
There are lots for sale on
which houses can be built,
recreational vehicles already on
site which can be rented and va-
cant vehicle lots for rent.
The facility is open to Coast-to-
Coast members or land owners
in the facility. There are no off-
road campers, Bolin said.
Bolin said the company is ex-
cited about the facility.
“It is the only one of its kind on
salt water, ” Bolin said.
