ter, a son, daughter, nephew,
grandson, three great-grand -

Harry B. Canlfax died March
20 in the Kerrvllle VA hospital.
He was born In Springfield,
Mo., and resided at SIC De La
Rosa street.
He served In the Tenth cav-
alry from 1914 to 1921.
Wright Bennet, a brother of
Mrs. Canifax, died in Los An-
gles.
Miss Shirley Miller receiv-
ed the Sunday school lesson

Rev. A.J. Maxwell officiated
at the morning service at Mount
Olive Sunday . The Lord’s sup-
per was administered after
service.

presiding elder of the East San
Antonio district, Rev. T.A.
Steadham, held the second quar-
ter.

The Union quarter was held
with Rev. L.E. Tlnnors and
members of Webster Chapel
AME church of Gonzales. Rev.
Tlnnors preached.

Antonio for Mrs. Jessie May
Riley who was burled in Wesley
Chapel cemetary nere. sne was
married to Ervin Riley who pre-
ceded her In death.
Dinner was served to the
family In the home of Mr. and
Mrs, C.L. Townsend.
Claude Brewer attended the
funeral of Mrs. Sewliia Bracher
McDuffie In West Point, Texas.
Mrs. Brewer was unable to
attend due to illness.
Mrs. Earlle Paige is im-
proving and accompanied Rev.
Paige to vlalt her daughter, Bet-
tie, In Gonzales.
Mrs. Estell Farley had a
minor stroke and Is confined
to San Antonio's Methodist hos-
pital.
Mrs. Cloma Thompson and
Mrs. Fannie Mae Buckman vis-
ited Gaiveston.

Va., recently visited his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Mopplns. He was entertained
with a number of social affairs
at the Heinz Steak house, Leo’s
Mexican restaurant and at a

Crew and Mrs. Ann Hullng as
his special guests.
Scott was also given a tour
of Juarez, Mexico.
En route to Petersburg, Scott

ciety, under the direction of
Henry Holloway, will present
Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass
In B Minor for soloists, chorus
and orchestra.
A single performance Is
scheduled for Saturday evening,
April 7, at 7:30 In the Laurel
Heights Methodist church at
Woodlawn and Belknap avenues.
Admission Is free.
Composed between 1733 and
Galilee Sunday school was
conducted by the superintend-
ent, L.M. Clark. Audrey Grant
was acting secretary and Miss
L.B. Williams was teacher.
Mrs. N.M. Grant gave the desk
review and Sunday school was
dismissed by Rev. J.W. Swish-
er.
A Bible lesson was taught by
Bill Bingham, a member of the
First Baptist church here.

after spending two weeks with

recuperating nicely.

day evening: with Mrs. White.
“The Old ship of Zion" was
presented at Galilee Baptist
Sunday. Sponsor was Miss L.B.
Williams. It consisted of local
