Banquet honors emergency personnel
In appreciation of the hard
work and dedication put forth by
the Baytown area emergency
medical personnel and Baytown
Medical Center Emergency
Room Staff, Baytown Medical
Center recently held a banquet
honoring those who provide
emergency services throughout
the year.
The EMS Banquet is an an-
nual event that Baytown Medi-
cal Center provides during
Emergency Medicine Week.
Roger Anderson, Sbcial Ser-
vices director at Baytown Medi-
cal Center, presented a talk On
the stresses of being in the
emergency medicine field. He
demonstrated several positive
ways to cope with the day to day
stresses in an EMT’s work life.
“These individuals have a
highly difficult and stressful
profession,” said Anderson.
“Not everyone has the capability
to perform the duties these indi-
viduals are expected to carry out
on a daily basis. I am glad that 1
was able to in some way help
them to deal with the stresses
which occur in their lives.”
“Baytown Medical Center
looks forward each year to hon-
oring the Emergency Medicine
personnel,” said Louis Fadal,
vice prcsident-Opcrations at
Baytown Medical Center. “We
enjoy spending time with and
saying thanks to those who do
so much for us throughout the
year.”
“The recognition we receive
during EMS week is greatly ap-
preciated,” said John Bollom, an
11-year veteran of emergency
medicine. “We wish the entire
community was more aware of
the capabilities of our
emergency service, including
the 911 service. Recognition by
Baytown Medical Center is a
sign of camaraderie between the
hospital employees and all of
the EMS staff. I would like to
thank everyone for their
support.”
Guests received a Baytown
Medical Center insulated mug
and were eligible for the door
prizes. Given as door prizes
were eight Astros baseball tick-
ets, three Baytown Medical
Center t-shirts and the fresh
flower centerpieces from the
banquet tables.
A meal prepared by the Diet-
ary Department at Baytown
Medical Center included comish
hens, fruft kabobs, mixed veget-
able medley, hot rolls and a var-
iety of homemade pies, cheese-
cakes and eclairs.
