Students To Compete
In Regional Bee
Ryan Rippstein, a fourth-grader
at Odem Elementary, and Elvira
Puga, a sixth-grader at Odem Jr.
High, won their campus spelling
bees and will compete in the San
Patricio County Spelling Bee at Sin-
ton High School on March 17.
The alternate for Odem Elemen-
tary is fourth-grader Jayme Han-
shaw, and the alternate for Odem Jr.
High is sixth-grader Kevin Gallia.

College Sorority
Information
The Associated Sorority Women of
Corpus Christi will hold their annual
information forum on March 29 from
4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Bartholomew’s
Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 600
Belmeade.
The forum is for all girls planning
to attend college in the fall of 1990.
The organization will provide infor-
mation on sorority rush re-
quirements and costs for all colleges
and universities.
The meeting is in informal and
girls and their mothers are invited to
come anytime during the forum
period. For more information, con-

On College
Odem High School students
received information on higher
education this week.
On Monday, Iris Gonzales, a
representative of Yale University,
spoke to prospective students about
admissions, financial aid and
scholarships.
On Tuesday, Joe Estrada from Del
Mar College’s admissions depart-
ment spoke to interested students on
admissions and taking the TASP.
Francie Jordon from the financial
aid office discussed filling out FAF
forms, scholarships and general
financial aid.
Also on Tuesday, Manny Lunoff,
freshman at the University of Texas
at Austin and 1989 graduate of
O.H.S., addressed the topics of
scholarships, registration and cam-
pus housing.
MOBILE ART EDUCATION — Karen Venetian presented a mobile art program from the Art Museum
of South Texas on March 8 at the Odem Elementary library. The students later had hands-on art ex-
perience by creating Mexican folk art masks. The program is available to third and fourth graders at
schools within a 50 mile radius of Corpus Christi. The program includes slides, art work and hands-on art
