Polumbo ‘42’ contest
Marion Ripkowski and Gene Smith of Highlands won first
place in the first Tony Polumbo “42” tournament for senior
citizens, hosted by Polumbo. They received a round trip, all ex-
pense paid flight to San Antonio with hotel accommodations on
the River Walk.
Second-place winners, William Travis Ford and Louie Gen-
try, were also from Highlands. Marion Boyer and Ada Camew
of the Ramsey Community Center in Channelview took third
place.
One hundred forty-six people participated in the tournament,
which drew approximately 300 people.
“We were very pleased to host this event for our seniors who
have contributed so much to our community,” said Polumbo.
“So often our seniors are not given the recognition and honor
they deserve.”
The second tournament has been scheduled for Oct. 14. The
winners of the October tournament will compete in the
statewide “42” play-offs. All future tournaments will be held in
October.
For more information on the tournament call Polumbo’s of-

YMCA fitness center open house March 13
Baytown YMCA invites
citizens to visit its new full
fitness center, featuring state-of-
the-art MaxiCam equipment, at
its location in The Market at San
Jacinto Mall.
An open house is set for 3-5
p.m. March 13. Guests are en-
couraged to wear workout
clothes.
“Our donation of this equip-
ment for the center was an op-
portunity for us to demonstrate'
our continuing support of the Y
and, at the same time, respond
to our employees’ interest in a
quality health and fitness facili-
ty,” said Buddy Irby, Mobay’s
health, environmental and safe-
ly a situation which benefits
everyone — Mobay employees,
the community and the YMCA.
“We would love to see more of
these joint ventures,” Mrs. Hunt
continued. “The neat thing about
it is that it is not limited to large
corporations. It would also be a
maintenance and the entire com-
munity benefits.”
Since Mobay began its YMCA
membership program,, jn
January, 132 company
