LYTLE — Graveside services for
Mary Martin Sharp, 67, of Austin
were held May 5 at Lytle Masonic
Cemetery in Lytle.
Mrs. Sharp died May 4.
She is survived by three sons,
William Elliott Sharp of Pleasant
Hill, Cali/., Robert Clary Sharp and
John Claibourne Sharp, both of
Elgin; a daughter, Sallie Martin
Sharp McKetta of Austin; and eight
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, former Baytonian Dr.
William Elliott Sharp.
The /amily requests memorial con-
tributions be made in Mrs. Sharp’s
memory to the library of your choice.
Services were directed by Hurley
Funeral Home.
ROBERDS
Services /or John Bennett Roberds,
95, of Romayor will be at 2 p.m. Sun-
day at Navarre-Lee Funeral chapel
with the Rev. Milton D. Ford of-
ficiating.
Mrs. Roberds died Friday at her
daughter’s home in Romayor.
Born Oct. 13, 1893, in Kountze,
she lived in Baytown from 1925-1980
before moving to Romayor. A
homemaker, she belonged to Faith
Temple United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her

Cemetery.

Beatrice Marie Bounds, 66, 0/ La

Paul U. Lee-La Porte Funeral chapel

Mrs. Bounds died Saturday at a
Pasadena hospital.
Born in Lynchburg, she grew up in
Highlands.
Survivors include her husband, Jim
Bounds 0/ La Porte; daughters and
sons-in-law, JoAnne and Keith Ed- -
wards of Conroe and Mary and
Richard Watkins 0/ La Porte; sisters,
Annie Mae Courveille and Jessie Lee
Shepherd, both of Highlands, and
Cora Atkinson of Baytown; brothers,
Everett Reed of Baytown and Jimmie
Reed of Pasadena.
Five grandchildren also survive.
Burial will be at Memory Gardens
Mausoleum.

A memorial service for William
Bal/our Franklin, 80, of Baytown
was held Friday at St. Mark’s United
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Frank Cady o//ieiating.
Franklin died Wednesday at a
Baytown hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1908, in Natchez,
Miss., Franklin lived 54 years in
Baytown.
A 1926 graduate of North Dallas,
High School, Franklin earnea\
bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
chemical engineering and a doctorate
in physical chemistry from The
University of Texas, where he also
taught from 1930-1934.
After joining Humble Oil and
Re/ining Co. in 1934, Franklin oc-
cupied numerous positions be/ore he
became head of the Technical Service _

assistant in the Houston headquarters
o//ice, assistant process superinten-
dent at the Baytown Re/inery, headed
research and development for three
years and worked 12 years as the
Baytown' Re/inery’s technical
manager. He retired in 1972 as head
of re/ining mathematics, computing
and systems and technical manpower
planning at Humble headquarters.
A charter member and former
chairman of the advisory council fpr
the University 0/ Texas Engineering
Foundation, Franklin also chaired
the visiting committee of the universi-
ty’s chemical engineering depart-
ment.
The holder 0/ numerous national
and regional o//ices in the American
Institute 0/ Chemical Engineering,
Franklin was AIChE national presi-
dent in 1965. He received the
Distinguished Service Award of the
South Texas Section of the AIChE,
the AIChE Founders Award and was
elected an AIChE Fellow.
A member 0/ Tau Beta Pi, Phi
Lambda Upsilon and Sigma Xi,
Franklin also received the Distiguish-
ed Engineering Graduate Award
from the University of Texas.
A member of St. Mark’s United
Methodist Church, Franklin served
as president 0/ the board of trustees,
chairman 0/ the official board, as
well as treasurer.
Survivors include his wife,
Geraldine Franklin of Baytown;
daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and
A.J. Phipps of Houston and Carol
and Jeffrey M. Heller of Dallas;
grandchildren, Drew Benjamin
Phipps, Kenneth Franklin Phipps,
Ron Anderson Phipps, Jeffery Scott
Heller and Debbie Ann Heller; and a
sister, Elizabeth Aldrich 0/ Natchez,
Miss.
Burial was private.
The family requests memorials be
made to St. Mark’s Methodist
Church, the William B. and
Geraldine S. Franklin Excellence
Fund at the College of Engineering of
the University of Texas at Austin, or
to the charity of your choice.
Services were directed by Earth-
man Baytown Funeral Home.
Didriksen services set
for Monday in Crowley
CROWLEY — Services for Ex-
xon retiree and former Humble
Oiler ballplayer Arthur Storm
“Buddy” Didriksen, 73, of
Crowley will be at 2 p.m. Mon-
day at Laurel Land Funeral
chapel in Crowley.
Didriksen died Friday at a
Fort Worth hospital after a heart
attack.
Born and raised in Port Ar-
thur, he moved to Baytown
around 1940, worked 38 years at
the Baytown Refinery and
played for the semipro Humble
Oilers baseball team here. He
worked in Libya during the six
years before his retirement in
1975, then moved to Crowley.
Brother of the late Babe
Didriksen Zaharias, he served
as a board member for the Babe
Didriksen Zaharias Memorial in
Beaumont.
A World War II veteran of the
U.S. Navy, he was a member of
First Methodist Church of
Crowley and formerly belonged
to Grace Methodist Church in
Baytown.
Survivors include his wife,
Jackie Didriksen of Crowley;
daughter and son-in-law, Jane
and Ryan Preston of Crowley;
son and daughter-in-law, Arthur
S. and Becky Didriksen Jr. of
Arlington; grandchildren,
Brady and Emily Preston and
Amy, Alisen and Abby
Didriksen; and a brother, Louis
Didriksen of Newton.
Burial will be at Laurel Land
Cemetery in Crowley.
