Cherokee Locals
Accident affects community
It has been quite a dishear-
tening week in Cherokee this
past week as Juanita Bishop
and Kenny Alexander from the
Cherokee Home and Tommy
Tuttle and son William along
with Tommy's nephew whose
name 1 cannot recall at this
writing from Alvarado had a
head-on collision on the Baby-
head curve. The man from
Alvarado was killed instantly.
The others were all taken to
the Brackenridge Hospital in
Austin. At this writing Kenny
is in serious condition and the
others seem to be recovering
as well as to be expected at
this time.
Our deepest sympathy to
the family of Mr. Cecil Young
who passed away Friday in
Kingsland and was buried in
the Kuykendall Cemetery this
past Monday. Cecil was a
lifetime resident of Cherokee
and had a host of friends here.
Our deepest sympathy to
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hibdon in
Houston.
Mrs. Jean Wilson and dau-
ghters, Grayleigh and Shan-
non from Dallas are staying at
their ranch here for several
days.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sellman
who moved here recently from
Waco went to Temple to see
the doctor this past week
where he received a good
report.
Maridell Johanson went to
des and Tracy attended the
Rhodes reunion in Llano this
past Saturday and then went to
Austin to visit friends and to
attend the football game bet-
ween Texas and North Texas
State.
A host of people went to
Austin this past several days
to visit with the Cherokee
home kids in the car wreck.
We rejoice that Mrs. Forrest
Dickison from San Saba is
recovering very well after
gallbladder surgery at the
Brackenridge Hospital this
past Friday afternoon. She is
the mother of Mrs. Charles
Randolph.
Recently the family of Mrs.
Grover Kuykendall, the John-
son family had a family
reunion at the late Groves
Kuykendall ranch. They re-
ported a great day.
Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Bond
have returned home after
taking a trip to the Grand Ole

of Temple were here for the
weekend and brought Lloyd
Holloway home from the rest
home in Brady.
Our sister, Ernestine and
son Edward thoroughly enjoy-
ed a tour of the Panther Creek
Ranch and of the new home
and taking pictures of the
Longhorns and Appoloosas.
We once lived under the hill
from the ranch and had
roamed the hills in our youn-
ger days.

The saddest part of com-
pany is their return home,
Ernestine Pekot and son Ed-
ward left Monday to Austin for
her departure to Pennsylvania
and Edward to Florida. Their
planes will leave at 7:15
Tuesday for Pennsylvania and
8:15 to Florida.
