drouth areas and lists the
latest information on CUA
land, peanut cards, wheat
program. ACP and any change
of operations. The information
is part of the September
newsletter from the ASC office

Hay. Due to the widespread
drouth conditions in many
areas of the country, many
reports of hay shortages have
been reported. If you have
surplus hay or have any hay
for sale you should report to
your local ASCS office, phone
247-47S0 the amount of hay
you have for sale the kind of
hay and approximate price of
hay. This information will be
used to provide persons need-
ing hay with information on
where available hay is located.
CUA LAND. Producers with
CUA land are reminded that
the land cannot be grazed until
after October 15. Harvesting
of any forage cannot be made
before January 1, 1984. The
land may be prepared for
planting to a fall seeded crop
to be harvested in 1984.

An election for a director to
serve in Zone 5 on the Llano
County Soil and Water Con-
servation District Board is
scheduled for October I, 1983
at the Sandstone Mountain
Ranch located 3 miles east of
Llano off Highway 71 announ-
ced Robert Kassell. chairman
of the board. The election will
be held at the Sandstone
Mountain Ranch. 3 miles east
of Llano announced Robert

5:30 p.m. Prior to the election
a Wildlife Seminiar will be
presented by Fielding Harwell
of the Parks and Wildlife
Department of Kerrvillle. A
fish fry will follow the election.

again host the Hill Country
Red Brangus Sale to be held
October 8. 1983 at the Gilles-
pie County Fairgrounds in
Fredericksburg. Guest consig-

Ranch of Dripping Springs and
McAlister Ranches of Blanco
and New Braunfels.

mile south of the city of Llano

miles to the Kingsland Slab
Crossing road; thence south-
east along the Kingsland Slab
Crossing road to the Llano
River; thence southeast along
the meanders of the Llano
River to the point of intersec-
tion with the Llano-Burnet
County line; thence north
along the Llano-Burnet County
line to the LCRA park at Cedar
Park; thence southwest along
old low-Llano Road to the
point of intersection with
Ranch Road 2241; thence
south west along Ranch Road
241 to its intersection of
Miller’s Creek: thence south
along Miller's Creek to its
intersection with Highway 29;
thence west along Highway 29
to the point of intersection
with Highway 16: then south
along Highway 16 to its
intersection with State High-
way 71 one mile south of lano
Highway one mile south of
Llano which is the point of
beginning.
Current members of the
board of directors of the Llano
County SWCD are Robert
Kassell. chairman; Fred Hor-
len, Vice-Chairman; Ken Ha-
zelett, Secretary; Leslie Keese
Member and Kenneth Bran-
denberger. member.
The purpose of the Llano
County SWCD. with head-
quarters in Llano is to promote
sound soil and water conser-
vation programs on farm and
ranch lands within the district
and to serve as a voice for
farmers and ranchers on con-
servation matters and other
issues affecting private pro-
perty rights of landowners.
The district board of direc-
tors coordinates the conserva-
tion efforts of various local,
state and federal agencies and
other organizations and has
authority to enter into working
agreements with these gover-
nmental agencies and private
concerns to carry out its
purposes.
All conservatin programs
managed by the district are of
a voluntary nature to the
landowner or operator.

The Llano County 4-H Achi-
evement Program is scheduled
for Tuesday, October 4, 1983
at 6 p.m. at the Llano County
Community Center. This year
marks the 75th anniversary of
4-H in Texas and plans have
been made to make this
Achievement Program special.
Gold Star Awards. County
Awards, year pins, and adult
leader awards will be present-
ed. In addition. 4-H alumni
who had outstanding ‘ 4-H
records in the past will be
introduced and recognized. All
4-H members and their famil-
ies are invited to attend. Each
family is asked to bring a
salad, vegetable, or dessert. In
order for us to have an idea as
to the number coming, mem-
bers are asked to call 247-5159
or 247-4849 to give the number
planning to attend the pro-
gram.

the telephone numbers of all
fire departments in the county,
game wardens, highway patrol
and emergency medical ser-
vice. In the event of fires or
emergencies, fast communica-
tion can often save lives and
property. Walter Milliorn, Jr.
is the President of the associa-
tion this year and probably has
extra copies of the card should
someone want one.
The Livestock Raiser's As-
sociation owns a fire truck
which is manned by the
Volunteer Fire Department,
sponsors educational pro-
grams, supports a wolf trapper
and provides other services to
ranchers.
The Llano County 4-H Live-
stock Judging Team won the
State Contest and will be
representing Texas at the
National Livestock Judging
Contest in Louisville, Ken-
tucky on November 15.
A benefit barbecue will be
held on October 8, 6-8 p.m. at
the Llano County Community
Center. The community is
invited and urged to attend
this barbecue and help send
the team to the National
Contest. 1
Knowles gets
commission
Terrv L. Knowles, son of
Mr. md Mrs. Robert W,
Knowles of Llano. Texas, has
been commissioned a second
lieutenant through the Air
Force ROTC program, and
earned a bachelor’s degree at
North Texas State University,
Denton.
Knowles is scheduled to
serve at Malmstrom Air Force
Base, Mont.
