The statement made in your letter of
November 10 to the effect that LeSueur brand of Asparagus
was readily available in the different retail stores in
Galveston prompted me to make a further investigation
as, naturally, if the stores in Galveston could get this
item, I couldn't figure why we were unable to obtain it.
Mr. Rucker contacted the leading wholesalers in Houston
as well as the broker handling this item for the State,
and everyone advised him that due to the short crop, this
brand of asparagus was not available, and apparently
the stock in the retail stores had been on hand for quite
sometime. This is just for your posting and to let you
know we try to stay competitive!
