Tuesday afternoon with a bridge
party for her cousin, Miss Tillie Shub
of Chicago. High {core was awarded
to Mrs. M. Vise and cut prize went
to Mrs. M. Polikoff. Guest prizes
were awarded to Mrs. B. Goldstein
of New Orleans and Miss Shub. Nu-
merous affairs have been given in
Miss Shub’s honor including- a dance
at Sylvan Beach Wednesday evening.
While here Miss Shub has been a
guest of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Cacir and her cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. Kelly Rosenthal. She leaves
Sunday, for her home in Chicago.

On Sunday, August 18, Mr. and
Mrs. B. Kline received informally
from the hours of "three till six in
honor of their daughter, Ida, whose
engagement to Mr. Aaron Rosen-
zweig was recently announced. The
house was beiyrtifully decorated in
carnations, carrying out the color
scheme of green and white. The lace
laid sweet table was centered by a
silver basket twined with tulle and
filled with green and whit# carna-
tions. On either side of which
gleamed white tapers in tall silver
candlesticks tied with green tulle.
Assisting in passing the sweets, tea
dainties, cak< s and cream were
Misses Ann Loff, Kate Levy, Dora
Sharman and Mary Rosenzweig.

afternoon to extend congratulations
and i» the receiving line with Mr.
and Mrs. IT Kline, Miss Ida Kline and
Aaron Ko.senzweig, -were Mr. and
Mrs. 11. Rosenzweig, Mr. and Mrs.

THIRD ANNUAL AMOS CLUB
DANCE
The Amos Club will again stage j
their Annual, Dance at the Lamar'
Hotel Ball Room in October, as de-
cided by members of the club at the
last regular meeting.
This duiu e-will he the third stag
ed by the AmosClub and its mem-
bers hope that all people of this
city and nearby cities will 'aid same
to he as successful as the former
dance- lie! i by till- club. In doing4
so, -you will not only help1 the club,
but will also aid the elub to spon-
sor a baseball team, which will he
one of the few to carry the Jewish
colors of this city.
Louis Gershon was iniated by the

into the club at the last meeting.

A bridge luncheon lor the benefit
of the Hadassah will be given on
Monday, September 9, at^lpim., at
Phenix Dairy Hall. The party will be
sponsored by the following hostesses:
Alesdaincs Max Block, Louis Green-
berg, Ben Steinberg, J. Rubenstein,
Sam Radinsky, Harry Dow, L. Seline,
and Ben Sampson. Table prizes and
a door prize will be given. Tables
will be furnished but players are
asked to bring their own equipment.

were hostesses at a bridge party on
August 16, 1929, which was given in
the honor of Miss Sarah Mitzi of
New Orleans, who was visiting her
sister and brother, Mr. and Mrs. B,
Goldberg. High score was won by
Mrs. A. B. Bell; second prize by Miss
Bella Kata, and the guest was award-
ed a lovely leather souvenir of Hous-
ton, Texas. The hostesses were as-
sisted in hostess duty by their mother,
Mrs. M. Wise.

The M. E. Foster Musical Scholar-
ship is now open for some worthy boy
or girl. Mr. Foster has placed- a
scholarship with the Houston Conser-
vatory of Music to be given to tome
talented boy or girl each season, who
from lack of finances can not go to
the higher branches of tha art. The
icholarship entitles the student to

GORDON-HERZ WEDDING
. One of the season's social surprises
occurred Sunday, August 18, when
guests assembled at the reception at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gor-
don, in honhr of their daughter’s en-
gagement, witnessed the impressive
marriage ceremony of the honoree,
Helen Gordon, to Mr. Herz of Pitts-
brugh, Pa.
The bride wa!fgiven in marriage by
her father and the groom entered on
the arm of the bride’s mother.
Archie Gordon, brother of the bride,
served as best man.
The home was beautifully decor-
ated inocut flowers. The table was
presided over by Miss Sohpie Gordon
and th^ punch table was in charge of
Miss Janice Bribing.
The bride was charming in her go-
ing nway suit, a three piece brown
ensemble with, hat and accessories to
Match.
Among the out-of-town guests
were Mr. and Mrs. F. Gold of Shreve-
port, La., Mr.-and Mrs. Schwartz of
