Sunday morning Troop 27 Boy
Scouts of America, Lewis Gardner
scoutmaster; Ben Blum and Z. Em-
mich Meyer assistants, had charge of
the progrum for the Sabbath School
lit Temple Beth' Isruel. After As-
sembly which was called to order by
Charles" FYeundlieh with church call,
officers’ call antf assembly on the
bugle, all grades led by. l)r. BunU_
stone,. Mrs. Schuomemann and the
teachers matched upstairs to the
main auditorium in Ali^T M. Levy
Community hull. With a stage set-
ting representing woods and grass,
ail of Troop 27 sat in a circle with a
log and the twelve white candles rep-
resenting the twelve scouts laws und
three red candles representing the
oath, the troop gave a tenderfoot
investiture to M. t\ Blumenthul,'
Buddy Poliak, Isadore Ductser, Jucub
Wagner and Coleman Asher: After
explaining scouting" by Mr. Gardner,
Mr. Blum took charge of the stage,
bringing the flag bearers, Maurice
Maltz and Clarence Setups to the
center of the stage, where JM. J. Suess
Jr., gave the opening prayer and the
pledge to the flag by the troop.
Twelve boys repeated one law each
after the U'mlcrfoot scouts gave the
oath under Senior l’utrol Leader
Martin Could, Me Ed.',Pollack in-
ducted the boys and gave l heir
badges. Mr. George Schnitzel- spoke
on Cooperation Between the I’.Trents
and the Scout Troop and the Temple,
after which a short talk was deliv-
ered by Dr. Kartf stone, who intro-
duced Mr. II. R. Adcock, the scout
executive of Houston Council, who'
then spoke on the scout and religion
ami called attention to the fact that
the man who contributes the most
financial and personal support was
Mr. Mortimer Schiff of New York,
and that the week of February b to
14 scouts the World over would cele-
brate scout week and the nineteenth
birthday of scouting and re-dedieate
themselves to. scouting. The meet-
ing was. then closed with , the scout
oath-and prayer. 'Friday evening,
January 26, there will lie % dinner at
0:16 at the Brazos Hotel of the Hous-
ton Council Boy Scouts of America
and election of officers for the ensu-
ing year. Troop 27 and Temple' Beth
