1ISDA Changes Lables
On Donated Foods
To make the packages of U.
S. Department of Agriculture
donated foods easier to identify
by the low-income families who
use them, labels of family size
packages are being
redesigned.
The change in labeling in
specifically planned to
illustrate use of the foods more
■ clearly, according to Martin
Garber, southwest regional
administrator of USDA’s Food
and Nutrition Service. The
label changes will also benefit
the Spanish speaking.
The first food to feature the
new label will be concentrated
grape juice. Cans with the new
labels will be included in April
and May shipments.

How many American con-
sumers save trading stamps?
A nationwide survey just
released shows nearly 8 out of
10 U. S. households saved
trading stamps in 1971. That is
just about the same proportion
as the poll has found each year
since 1959.
Men are almost as interested
in stamps as women, the
survey shows. About 73 per
cent of men contribute to the
family collection, compared to
78 per cent of women.
The key finding of the
national study that some 49.6
million American households
save stamps. That is 77 per
cent of the estimated 64,400,000
households in the country.
The survey was conducted by
Benson & Benson, Inc., of
Princeton, N. J., one of the
nation’s leading market
research organizations, on
behalf of the 76-year-old Sperry
and Hutchinson Company,
which operates the S&H Green
Stamp promotional ssrvice.
Senator Bridges Assailes
Ins. Commissioners
Senator Ronald Bridges
while in Rockport attending the
Senate Interim Coastal Zone
Study committee meeting this
week told insurance com-
missioners to either shape up
or ship out.
Bridges told commissioners
and the audience, “As most of
you know, the governor ap-
points the three insurance
commissioners, subject to
confirmation by the Senate.
“As a member of the Senate
nominating committee, I am
tired of seeing South Texas
looked upon by the Insurance
Commission as a stepchild of
Texas and unless we get some
relief on our insurance rates, I,
for one, shall not vote to con-
firm any commissioner when it
comes before the Senate for
confirmation.
