Taft Sets Boll
Weevil Festival
Planning is well underway
for the Second Annual Boll
Weevil Festival in Taft to be
held Dec. 1, this year.
The Boll Weevil Festival
Commission announced that
this year the festival has been
expanded fay beyond the arts
and crafts festival of last year.
This year, the commission
will be including a Miss Boll
Weevil Days pageant, an
amateur radio swap fest, a
rock hound gathering, an old
timer recognition celebration,
the arts and crafts from over
the state, one act plays by the
high school drama class and
many smaller attractions.
The commission has
established a fee for the booths
this year. This fee will be
charged for any booth where
the occupant plans to sell
anything from the booth. Those
displaying only will not be
charged. The fee is $5.
The commission will use all
money received for booths for
the promotion of the event. The
first festival, last year, drew
about 5,000 people and it is
expected to be at least twice as
large this year.
Booths last year extended up
and down the main street of
town. This year the com-
mission is anticipating needing
several blacks more space for
booths.
The Chamber of Commerce
will be mailing out forms for
those who wish to obtain a
booth for the affair in the next
few weeks. Anyone not
receiving such a form and
desiring to display their hobby
may contact the Chamber of
Commerce.
