PIRATES’ No. 30, Carrol Wofford,

run a spectacular touchdown for
Center Point, but the play was
denied by officials because of
personal foul. The final score in
the grueling game, in which one
of the Longhorns main backfield
stars, Gary Rahe, was injured
early in the game, was 18-16, fa-
vor of Center Point. This was the
the second encounter between the
two rivals ,Harper having won
the first game at Center Point
several weeks ago by a close mar-
gin.

The Longhorns were handed their
first district loss in two years by
the Center Point Pirates by the
score of 18-16.
The game started when the Pi-
rates won the toss .and elected to
receive. They took the ball on
their own 31 yard line and drove
down field until the Longhorns took
possession of the ball on their own
15 yard line. The Longhorns then
started with a bang and after six
plays the Horns were on the score-
board with 8 points.
The Pirate team took the kickoff
from deep in their own territory,
struggled up field and were able to
put 6 points on the scoreboard. The
first quarter ended without further
scoring from either team.
Four plays after the first quarter
ended, Gary Rahe went over the
goal line. PAT was good. The
visiting team took another Long-
horn kickoff and punched their way
to pay dirt for 6 points. The first
half ended with the Horns leading
the Pirates 16-12.
The Horns took the Pirate kickoff
but didn’t hit pay dirt because of
an interception. Both defensives
then stiffened and the ball changed
hands six times before the Pirates
were able to plunge through the
Longhorn defense and put them a-
head 18-16. The third quarter end-
ed shortly.
The fourth quarter was luckless
to the Horns although they had

EDITORIAL
By Linda Jung
The students of Harper School
should be highly commended for
their fine behavior concerning
school property and other areas of
Harper on Halloween night.
There are times when such stu-
dents \wuld be referred to as being*
“sissies”. Why is it that when a
person does his duty toward the
school he is ridiculed? Is it that
the person who makes these charg-
es is just a little bit jealous be-
cause he hasn’t had the courage to
carry out the good work that a
good school citizen is doing?
Why do these responsible stu-
dents do the right thing? They do
it because they were reared in
good homes and they realize the
value of the school system. There
are countless other reasons why
they are doing their duty. Such
students are invaluable. Such are
the sfhidents of both Harper ele-
mentary and high school.
Don’t be against these kids.
Commend them on their outstand-
ing good behavior, and encourage
them to continue to do the right
thing.

PIN-UP BOY
Gary Rahe ,an outstanding Sen-
ior Longhorn, was chosen as Foot-
ball Pin Up Boy at the Homecom-

done a great job in football during
his four years in high school. Gary
was a great asset to the team as a
Freshman and a Sophomore. He
was chosen as a member of the All
