1 Missionary Training Director
Addresses Methodist Women
On Feb. 8 the United
Methodist Women met in the
Fellowship Hall with Rev. John
Donaldson from Global Har-
vesters Training Center as
guest speaker.
President Mrs. Ana Lewis
opened the meeting with a
prayer. Mrs. Betty Blackwell
introduced Rev. Donaldson and
his wife, Carolyn.
Many had heard Rev.
Donaldson speak and it was an
inspiration to hear him again.
He told of his reluctance to
being a minister at first, even
though his father and three
brothers were in the ministry.
He found we need not worry
about our inadequacy if we will
be remember “God is in
command”. We do not know
His plan so why not leave it to
Him who is the same
yesteryear, today and
tomorrow.
He told of the work that is
being accomplished at the
center. Impossible deadlines
being met, in building projects
where the labor is donated.
The hangar for the planes
used in flight training was put
up by a group from Sturgus,
Mich, who gave their time, An
81 year old lady came to give
her nimble fingers in making
quilts and doing repair work on
clothes. So age is no drawback
in what can be done.
They teach biblical
prophecy, Spanish preparation
for mission work and flying
lessons, especially bush flying
which is very essential for
getting into some of the hill
countries, such as Guatemala,
Bahamas, Mexico and many
others where they go to do
mission work.
. Mrs. Lenna Me Knight displays one of her many projects-a
comforter.

Lydia Class Meets
“A delight to be around” is a
common phrase used by all
who have had the privilege of
meeting Mrs. Lenna McKnight
at the Global Harvesters
Missionary Training Center,
Lagarto.

The Grace Lutheran Church
Women met at the church
Thursday night, Feb. 10.
Eleven members and Pastor
Kurt Wandrey were present.
Mrs. Kurt Wandrey led the
Bible Study over Isaiah,
chapters 1-5. Sarah Buetow
read the offering meditation,
and Mrs. Loyd Mengers closed
the meeting with the Lord’s
Prayer and the singing of the
table prayer.
Mrs. Jack Stendebach
served as hostess for the social
hour, and delighted everyone
by making her famous apple
cider. Her refreshments were
enjoyed by all.
Members were reminded to
give their trading stamps to
Mrs. Quin Walters so we can
purchase blankets for
Lutheran World Relief.
a side trip to Monterrey,
Mexico are among her varied
activities.
Mrs. McKnight’s sole desire
is to glorify the Lord. For
seventeen years of her life,
Lenna shared in her husband’s
ministry in the Methodist
church. She then shared her
talents with Rural Mission on
John’s Island, South Carolina.
Lenna’s quick wit is just one
of her assets which negates the
stereotyped thinking that
Christians don’t have any fun.
To be around her is to laugh, to
work, to study, to learn, to be
inspired by her energy, to
enjoy life, but most of all, it is
to fellowship in Christ.
Mrs. McKnight, 81,
originally of Muncie, Ind., said
it takes about a week for her to
make a comforter.
Mrs. Pat Patillo, Mrs. Louise
Lotspeich and Mrs. Claudia
Hayes were hostesses to the
Lydia Sunday School Class as
they met in the Fellowship Hall
of the First Baptist Church
Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Rose Hollon presided in
the absence of Mrs. Bycie
Ponton, Outreach Leader.
Mrs. “"Geneva”" South of
Cumberland, Iowa opened the
meeting with prayer; then
brought a timely devotional on
asking, related to GOOD
NEWS TEXAS, our statewide
campaign. Mrs. South read
Psalms 2:8, Luke 11:9-13 and a
number of other scriptures
from the Bible indicating our
need to ask in order to receive
nf the Lord.
The financial report was
given by Mrs. Vera Vickers
followed by the reading of the
minutes. A short business
session was held and the
meeting closed with prayer by
Mrs. Anna Miller.
Refreshments were served
by the hostesses to the 13
members present.
They just started the center
with two planes. Now they have
17 of many makes.
He showed slides of the
progress of the center,which
gave some ideas of the im-
mense amount of work done
there by dedicated workers.
Anyone wanting to go on one
of the tours with them to some
of the mission fields may, for
they welcome lay people of all
walks of life. The fee is very
small in comparison to the
enjoyment of the trip.
Mrs. Donaldson told of her
classes, what she teaches and
the interest shown by the films
involved.
She also told of the two
roadrunners that have become
pets of the camp. They are
very much a part of this area.
At the conclusion of the
program, Rev. Donaldson
closed with the reminder “God
is in command - trust Him.”
Mrs. Lewis in closing said,
“Step out with faith and God
will take over.”
A luncheon of strawberry
cake, cookies, tea and coffee
was served to 23 members and
guests by the hostesses, Mrs.
Betty Blackwell and Mrs. Alice
Collyer.
Decorations were made by
Mrs. Vivian Smith in keeping
with Valentine season.
