Meeting in Mexia
At Western Grill
Tau Chapter of The Delta Kap-
pa Gapnma, held a breakfast
KteMting at the Western Grill
IfttSffay morning, May 1
itrt- lAjUine Allen, president,
pressed during the business
meeting when committee reports
were made by Mrs. Mary Dol-
lar, chairman of publications and
publicity, and by Mrs, Mildred
Pace, chairman of the courtesy
committee.
The president reminded the
members of the State meeting
to be held at the Shamrock-Hil-
ton Hotel, in Houston, June 11-
13.
The guest speaker was Miss
Sibyl Turner, who is a teacher
in the Sherman public schools,
and a former Mexia teacher and
member of Tau Chapter. Her
topic was ‘‘Personal Reading’’
The speaker stressed the import-
ance in choosing the right kind
of book for leisure time reading
Those interested in crafts and
hobbies may find many books of |
that type in the book stores. For j
the person who can read only a
little at a time, the Reader’s Di-
gest is a great asset.
Many people prefer mystery
and “who-done-it" books, as an
escape from everyday work.
She noted that the younger
teachers tend to read more bio-
graphy and historical novels.
Miss Turner gave a short sum-
mary of a few books she has re-
cently read and recommends:
“The Immense Journey," a book
on science, by Eisely; “Lion’s
Hearts and Leaping Does," by
Powers; “The Roots of Heaven,”
by Gaey, and “Up The Down
Stair Case," by Bell Kaufman.
Mrs Dorothy Clements of
Groesbeck closed the program
with am “Appreciation.f.o, Our
Founders.” She wgs assisted by
Mrs. Cnristine Whitehurst.
Hostesses- for the breakfast
were: Mrs. Alene Martin, Miss
Mary Talley, Miss Oma Lee
Campbell, Miss Ellie Hughes.
There were twenty-eight mem-
bers and two guests present.
The guests were Miss Sibyl Tur-
ner, Sherman, and Mrs. Dorothy
Haskins, Mexia.

OU* REPLY: n isn’t wise to
tell a girl that you love her when
you really do not know one ano-
ther. And, you aanoot juat wish
for something to happen and ex-
pect it to happen.
The girl is certain to know that
you like her. This does not guar-
antee that she will like you as
well as you like her. She may
even object. Ip the fact that you
look at ker so much. 0

The Ten Commandments
How to Kill a Town
I ALWAYS have something else to do when a meeting
is called.
II. If you attend a meeting, be sure to find fault with
the Officers and fellow members.
III. Decline to hold office, as it is easier to criticize than
to be criticized.
IV. Get sore if you are not put on a committee.
V. If you are put on a committee, fail to serve.
VI. If the Chairman asks for opinions, by all means keep
silent. BUT LATER tell others what should have been
done,
VII. When a few fellows roll up their sleeves to help things
along, always preach that a clique is running the town.
VIII. Stick to telling what you’ve done in the past for a
town; NEVER look to the future.
IX. Delay paying your taxes as long as passible, and never
answer any requests.
X. NEVER bother about helping your town—let George
do it.

A Wonderful Way
to End a Delightful Meal!
The kitchen convenience twins — electric dishwasher and disposer
— can do more than you’d ever believe to help you relax after a big
meal. No longer will you have the drudgery of scraping dinner plates
into the garbage or spending all the time necessary to wash and dry
every glass, knife, fork and spoon by hand. You simply shake the
plates, lay them in the dishwasher and punch a button... that’s all
Low-cost electricity helps you live the relaxing life year in and year
out —but especially after dinner!
