Designers Dip Skirts
For Long Loose Look
• NEW YORK (AP) -
• Designers'*!** dipping by
J degrees into the long, loose
J look, depending on their
{ amourit of nerve,
£ Among the long-lovers,
• John Anthony asks for a
slim dress under a full coat;
• Giorgio di Sant'Angelo calls
J for careful detailing; Victor
j Juris’ call for Cuddfecoat
J suggests a lush looseness.
• Juris takes the plunge and
« makes it work.
£ His skirts start at four
£ inches below the knee and
J go down. They are saved by
J their fullness and in-
» terestirig tweeds. He’s
• topped them with full coats
£ and. capes. It's a lot of
£ fabric, but it looks great.
} The only time Joris goes
askew is the tent top and
tent together. From any
angle it makes a woman
look like a moving tank. One
tent is plenty.
John Anthony’s collection
is a little too close for
comfort. • *
His coats. are sensuous
and soft. But tfie narrow A-
tine skirt slfll looks wrong
long, whether it's a browp
jersey dress or a black suit.
His best skirts are full,
bias or pleated. "Some of
them are topped Sfith his
tailored blazer. That look
t made him successful
several years ago, but it
doesn't make it with the
long lengths.
His colors aredark^lids,
black and brown, except for
a light, rose-brown series,
which drew applause.
leo Narducci eschewed
the long skirt for the most
part, ending day clothes just
below the knee. He showed
some of the best chiffons in
town for the money. His line
for Ambiance is priced at
$75 to $185.
