world famous stars will be
brought to the Southwest direct
from the Metropolitan Opera
House In New York for four per-
formances In Dallas April 10, 11
and 12. The Dallas Grand Opera
Association has underwritten the
Southeastern season, and Fair
Park Auditorium will become the
local Metropolitan.
Dallas Is the only city west of
the Mississippi in which the New
York organization will appear
this season. It will be the first
in three decades. Tentatively
selected for the performances In
Dallas are:
Massenet’s “Manon” for open-
ing night on Tuesday, April 10,
starring the glamorous Ameri-
can soprano, Grace Moore, Jan
Kiepura, tenor, and John Brown-
lee, baritone.
Wagner’s "Tannhauser,” Wed-
nesday matinee, featuring Eliza-
beth Rethberg, soprano, Lauritz
Melchior, famous Wagnerian
tenor, and Herbert Janssen,
baritone.
Verdi’s "Otello,” given perhaps
for the first time by a major
operatic organization in this sec-
tion of the , country, with Gio-
vanni Martinelll, tenor, Law-
rence Tibbett, baritone, and
Irene Jessner, young Austrian
soprano. Wednesday night.
Puccini’s "La Boheme” Thurs-
day night, again presenting
j Grace Mcore and John Brown-
lee, with Exio Pinza, famed Met
basso. -

The meeting date of the Re-
gency Homemaker’s' Club has
been changed from March 34 to
Friday, March 31. Our Home
Demonstration Agent, Miss Scott,
has promised to be with us then.

tended the funeral of Mrs. R. J-
Edmondson, Whose bcdy was laid
to rest In the Regency cemetery
last Tuesday. Grandmother Ed-
mondson was 77 years old and
one of the oldest residents of this
county.
Mrs. Butch Raulett has made
several trips to Brownwood for
sinus treatment lately.
Albert Reid made a business
trip to San Saba. Monday.
BUI Wood attended the Fat
Stock Show at Fort Worth last
week.
