Lt. Gov. Preston Smith will ad-
dress a county-wide meeting to-
morrow (Thursday) afternoon at
2;00 o'clock on behalf of his can-
didacy for Governor of Texas sub-

cratic primary in May.
He will be at the Sands Steak
House, located on the Yoakum
Highway north of the main busi-

CITY OF YOAKUM
ON this the 12th day of February 1MB, the City Commis-
sion of the City of Yoakum of DeWltt and Lavaca Counties,
Texas, convened in regular session at the regular meeting place
thereof, at the Munieioal Building in said City, with the fol-
lowing members, to-wit: —

being present and among other proceedings had by said Com-
mission was the following:
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Chapter 2, Title 28,
Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 1925, as amended, it is pro-
vided that an e’ection of City Officers shall be held annually,
and Section 1, Article VI of the Charter of the City of Yoakum
provides for such election to be held on the first Tuesday of
April of each year, and
WHEREAS, the OHy Commission of said City deems it
advisable to order an election for the purpose of electing offi-
cers of said city, and
WHEREAS it is necessary that 30 days notice of said
City Officer Election be given.
THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF YOAKUM, DEWITT and LAVACA
COUNTIES, TEXAS:
That an election be held In said City on the 2nd day of
April 1968 to flit the vacancies caused by the expiration of foe
terms of Commissioners Jack Renbow and Graham F. Lantz,
And that candidates for the office of CHy Onmriissioner in this
election must fi'e their application wtlh the Chairman of the
Board of City Commissioners or City Clerk not later than 9:0ft
p. m„ Friday, March 1. 1968.
Said election shall be held at the following places in said
city and the following named persona are hereby appointed
presiding fudge for the sa<d election. VOTING PLACE: Cen-
tral Fire Station with PRESIDING JUDGE Mrs. O. L. (Hazel)
Bland. The presiding judge to secure such judges and ctorka
as are necessary to ho'd the election.
The ballot of said election shall have written or printed
thereon foe words "OFFICIAL BALLOT” and the nam% ot
the candidates and the office for which they are a candktoito.

The manner of holding said election shall be gregnte^
as nearly as may be, by the General Election Laws of to*

State of Texas revision of 1925, as attended, and the Quurter
ot he City of Yoakum, and none but .resident qualified voters
of the City shr'l be allowed to rote at said election.
Notice of said election will be given at least 38 day* prior
to tor date of said election.
