John BtapLton. 19-year-old Port
Bend county fouth, died in a hoa-
pltal here today as a result of gun-
shot wounds received the night of
Aug. 15 during an altercation with
some negroes at a filling station In
Port Bend county.
Sheriff Hennigan of Richmond
said Walter Williams, negro, held

day with Stapleton’s murder.
HOUSTON. Aug. 23—(UP)—A
heroic Houston woman and two

wreck between Oklahoma City and
Tulsa, Oklahoma, while driving to-
ward

water after Bobble and Qrace. The
drowning children clutched at their
rescuer. Seeing them beyond her
reach and In desperate straits, Mrs.
Hill thought she might bring help
In time.

inger and Foster Fluklnger. farmers
who hurried to the pond. The three
had gone down. An hour later the
Fluklngers recovered the bodies.

Their daughter. Mrs. Roy Simmons,
and son, Bill, were not injured.
Mr. Olfford sustained possibly
serious injuries, the extent cf which
will not be determined until after
X-ray examination today. It was
feared that he had chest Injuries of
possibly dangerous nature. Mrs.
Olfford suffered fractures of both
legs, and severe cute and abrasions
about the head.*
The manner in which the acci-
dent occurred Is not known here,
except that there was a collision on
