The Crosby-Huffman Chamber of
Commerce awarded $200 grants to three
teachers. The CISD teachers were able to
apply for grants through the Chambers
Education Committee Spelling Bee competi-
tion, held each year to help award teachers
with the money needed to support any cho-
sen activity for their classroom. The
Chamber awards three scholarships to
Crosby and Huffman school districts and
one to Sacred Heart. All are welcome to
participate in this event. A business can
sponsor a team or the Chamber will help
find a team. The above winner is Robin
Creed from Crosby Middle School. The 2012
Spelling Bee will be held on Oct. 11 at
Huffman Hargrave High School and will begin
at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in sponsor-

Answering Religious Error
Jesse Flowers
Error: Peter Was The First Pope
Bible Answer:
1) The Church was built upon Jesus Christ not Peter (Matt 16:13-
2) The “keys of the kingdom" were given to all the apostles, not
just Peter alone (Matt. 16:19; 18:18; Acts 2:42; Eph. 2:20).
3) Popes are forbidden to marry, but Peter was married (Matt 8.14; I Cor. 9:5).
4) The apostle Paul rebuked the apostle Peter for his sin of hypocrisy “before
them all” (Gal. 2:11-14). Paul evidently did not view Peter as "pope" or as his
"head."
5) Christ is the “head over all things to the church" (Eph. 122t and He has
ALL authority in heaven AND on earth (Matt 28:18)!
Conclusion:
If Peter was the first Pope, isn't it strange that the Bible never refers to him as
such (or anyone else for that matter)? We read of evangelists, teachers, pastors
(elders), deacons, and saints (Christians), but never of “popes" (Acts 14:23;
i Eph. 4:11; Phil 1:1).
