rest in Deer Park on charges of

Deer Park police arrested
Doyle Dean Cobb on forgery
charges, but turned him over to
Baytown detectives because of-
ficers said be was driving a
pickup truck stolen out of
Baytown at the time of his arrest.
After being questioned, Cobb
admitted stealing an Audi Fox
also stolen out of Baytown which
was later recovered, a detective
said.

Other crimes in which Cobb is a
suspect include a motorcycle
theft, a burglary, other forgeries
and gelling stolen tools which
were in the stolen truck, detec-
tives said.
He was denied bond because he
was reportedly on probation for
auto theft at the time of his arrest.
Felony DWI
Police have arrested a man
with a history of driving while in-
toxicated on felony charges of
DWI.
Sisto Barrera, 41, of 3316
Wisconsin, was being held in lieu
of $2,000 bond, police reported.
Barrera’s record shows six
previous DWI charges and three
DWI convictions, police reported.
Officer A.L. Holoman said he
saw the car driven by Barrera
weaving in the 3700 block of
Bayway. He said he followed the
car with red lights and siren going
for four blocks before Barrera
stopped.
A breathalyzer test ad-
ministered to Barrera showed he
had an alcohol content in his blood
pellet pistol, totaling $160 in
value, were stolen between 3:15
and4:30p.m. Thursday.
•Sue Frontman, 1215 Bar-
rymore — Reported the theft of a
boat, valued at $350, from her
back yard sometime since March
2. The boat was not on a trailer.
•Larry C. Barker — Reported
the burglary of a building at A-
Plus Used Cars at 805 N. Alex-

tools, totaling $199 in value, were

population comprised largely of

whom were unable to speak
English.
Miss Pumphrey, who was head
teacher and principal at De
Zavala In those early years, in-
itially could not speak Spanish,
but she learned to handle the
challenging situation with a vigor
appreciated by most of those who
came into contact with her.
Miss Pumphrey, who retired as
principal at De Zavala in 1965,
won numerous awards for her
services in the teaching com-
munity. She was a member of the
National Education Association,
Texas State Teachers Associa-
tion, Baytown Education Associa-
tion, Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas
Food Service and National Food
Service Associations and the
Texas Elementary Principals and
Supervisors Association. Miss
Pumphrey was also a life
member of the Parent-Teacher
Association.
Miss Pumphrey was a member
of the First United Methodist
Church in Edna during her retire-
ment, and while she lived In
Baytown she was an active
member of Grace Methodist.
