Trash Off equals cleaner city
BY ELESKA AUBESPIN

The city of Baytown is a whole lot
cleaner, thanks to over l ,000 residents
who recently came together in a suc-
cessful effort to spruce up the area.
During the 2013 Keep Baytown
Beautiful’s Trash Off and the House-
hold Hazardous Waste/Electronics
Waste collection events held in April,
volunteers removed community rub-
bish and rid their homes and proper-
ties of hazardous waste, such as paint
products, pesticides and fertilizers,
motor oil and filters, antifreeze, gas-
oline and fuels, household cleaners,
solvents, car batteries and pool chem-
icals.
While Keep Baytown Beauti-
ful hosted its Trash Off, the city of
Baytown Health Department and
Stormwater Management presented
the hazardous waste collection day.
Both events ran simultaneously.
“Comm unity participation: contin-
ues to exceed expectations and we’re
glad we could provide this service
for our residents,” said Gerardo Ruiz,
Storm w'ater coordinator.
