LEGO drive to
benefit library
Are unused LEGOs
overtaking your house?
Missing pieces making that
10,000 piece kit useless?
Sterling Municipal Li-
brary can help.
The library is hosting a
LEGO drive between now
and Jan. 3, as the library 's
youth services division
prepares to host a month-
ly LEGO Night program
for pre-teens age 8 to 12.
Donated blocks can be
brought to the reference
desk at Sterling Municipal
Library, located at I Mary
Elizabeth Wilbanks Ave.
(near the comer of Texas
Avenue and Decker).
“This is a great way
for parents, grandparents,
or kids to clean out their
closets before the holi-
days. especially since we
are accepting incomplete
or random assortments of
LEGOs,** said Lu Wright,
Pre-Teen Librarian. “The
more variety we have to
offer, the more creative the
kids can get!”
The toys will be put to
good use at the first LEGO
Night, which is scheduled
for Monday, Jan. 27 at 5:30
pm. LEGO night activities
will include building con-
tests and challenges to put
kids* ingenuity to the test.
LEGO Night will join the
weekly rotation of free
activities for pre-teens on
Mondays at 5:30 pm. Oth-
er programs include sci-
ence workshops, book club
meetings and crafts.
The library requests that
only LEGO blocks arc
brought in, as the larger
Duplex blocks will not
work for the construction
challenges.
For more information,
call the library at 281-427-
7331.

HOLIDAY BRIEFS
leer event sponsored by New York City.
The day of the parade, it was amazing how
they maintained a smile as they walked
through the streets waving at spectators
in 35 degree weather temperatures in only
their performance costumes.
The Spirit of America organizers did a
fantastic job coordinating this event and ac-
cording to Karli and Emily.
“This is a once in a lifetime experience.
We both remember watching the parade at a
young age dreaming that one dav we could
participate ... and now we have! Even
though the temperatures were very cold, the
adrenalin and excitement we had the day of
the parade was almost as if we couldn't feel
it. We were so blessed and thankful we had
the opportunity to do this. We made new
friends from all over and happy that we
able to represent our Sterling Stars.'
