POLICE BEAT
Solicitation
arrests
At 7:50 a.m. Saturday,
two Baytown women were
arrested for soliciting with-
out a permit at a gas station
in the 1900 block of inter-
state 10. The women were
observed knocking on sev-
eral parked truck tractor
doors in an attempt to get
the drivers’ attention. One
of the females was partially
nude and was wearing only
a blouse, police said. Both
were taken into custody and
charged with solicitation
without a legal permit by
the city of Baytown. They
were taken to the Baytown
City Jail.
Aggravated
assault
At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, po-
lice were dispatched to the
3300 block of Wisconsin to
investigate a possible dis-
turbance. Officers arrived to
find an intoxicated 51-year-
old man leaning against a
chain fence with a deep cut
to his arm. However, the
man refused to cooperate
with police or provide infor-
mation about how the injury
occurred.
Shoplifting
results in injury,
robbery charge
Police were called at 1:53
p.m. Saturday to investigate
a robbery in the 6900 block
of Garth Road at San Jacin-
to Mall. According to a po-
lice report, the loss preven-
tion officers at Matty's had a
Baytown woman in custody
after discovering that she
had attempted to shoplift 12
pairs of shorts in her purse.
As the woman attempted to
exit the store w ith the stolen
shorts, loss prevention offi-
cers approached her. At that,
police said the woman at-
tacked a store employee by
biting and scratching him.
The woman was detained
and eventually charged with
robbery.
Vehicle stolen
A theft of a motor vehicle
occurred in the 6600 block
of Garth Road at 8:23 p.m;
Sunday. The automobile
was valued at $28,000.
Thefts
• On June 7, a theft hap-
pened in the 3700 block of
Tompkins Drive, during
which two bicycles valued
at $525 were stolen.
• A theft occurred from a
store in the 4900 block of
Garth Road at 4 p.m. Satur-
day. Stolen Was $93 worth
of food, clothing, household
goods and entertainment
equipment.
A theft happened in the
200 block of West James
Street between 5 p.m. Fri-
day and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police said $3,500 in house-
hold goods were taken.
• A theft was reported in
the 1800 block of Interstate
10 at 6:18 p.m. Sunday. Sto-
len was $69 in food.
Burglary of
a habitation
• An apartment in the 300
block of West Baker Road
was burglarized between
6:30 p.m. Friday and l:30
p.m. Saturday. About $500
worth of jewelry and elec-
tronics was stolen.
• At 3:55 p.m. Saturday,
a burglary of a habitation
happened in the 500, block
of Massey Tompkins Road.
Computer and entertain-
ment equipment valued at
$ l ,320 was stolen.
Arrests
• A Baytown man was
arrested for assault in con-
nection to family violence
in the 3400 block of Shady
Hill Drive at 3 a.m. Sunday.
• Three men were arrested
in the 3200 block of Mich-
igan Street for a Class B
theft that happened in the
3200 block of Ohio Street
at 11:33. a.m. Sunday. The
estimated value recovered
was SI00.
• A Baytown man was
arrested at his home in the
2200 block of Cedar Bayou
Road for assault of a family
member at 12:39 p.m. Sun-
day,
Stolen car
recovered
A maroon 1996 Toyota
Corolla was reported stolen
at 7:05 a.m. Sunday in the
4700 block of Basalt Drive,
but was recovered shortly
after. The vehicle was val-
ued at $2,000.
Burglary of
a building
• An attempted burglary
of a building happened in
the 7500 block of Decker
Drive at 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
Assault
• A report of an assault
was taken in the 2100 block
of Carolina Street at 7:30
p.m. Saturday.
• An assault was reported
in the 3200 block of Ohio
Street at 10:18 p m. Satur-
day.
