LOVE f

He had flowers delivered
to her school and things
moved fairly rapidly from
there.
When Deans earned that
master’s degree, she men-
tioned that on Facebook,
too. Along with many other
Facebook friends, Sivek
responded with congratula-
tions, but he added that he
would raise a toast to her
accomplishment.
“I told him to hold on
and let’s do that toast in
person,” Deans said.
“1 thought ‘hmmm ... this
sounds interesting,”’ Sivek
said.
Eventually Sivek traveled
to Florida so they could
meet face to face.
Both were pretty sure
their online relationship
would work well in person,
but both were stiif tf bit
nervous about meeting after
40 years.
Afraid they might not
recognize each other,
Deans met him at the air-
port with a big sign lettered
in glitter paint.
‘‘I am a teacher, after all,
so their had to be glitter,”
she laughed.
Their relationship
worked. Their love for each
other grew. Deans realized
that her future lay back in
her old stomping grounds.
Sivek proposed last July
and helped tier pack up and
move back to Baytown at
the end of that month.
“1 gave up that job I had
worked so hard to get, but
when we met face to face
everything changed,” said
Deans, “It was just meant
to be.”
She got a teaching
job with GCCISD again
and while she teaches
fifth-grade at San Jacinto
Elementary, she is taking
college courses that will
qualify her for an adminis-
trative position in this state.
She hopes to land a job
in administration at their
old high school, she said.
“Coming back full circle
like that would be great,”
Deans added.
They plan to marry this
summer and meanwhile,
they are working through
a list of activities that
includes visiting places and
doing things they haven’t
done in years.
As part of that, they’ve
gone to visit San Jacinto
Monument and Kemah,
shopped at Sterling’s Star
Bazaar, went to the RSS
homecoming game and
attended some Houston
Texans football games.
They’ve scheduled a trip
to the Houston Zoo this
weekend.
“We’re trying to do
things that I missed while
I lived in Florida,” Deans
explained.
“We’re enjoying life
and each other. We work
hard and we play hard and
we’re just blessed beyond '
imagination with being giv-
en a chance to start a new
chapter in our lives.”
Deans and Sivek are
getting a lot of support
from their families, their'
friends and even from that
high school reunion group,
who they now meet with in
person rather than just on
Facebook.
“Everyone has been
so supportive,” she said.
"They all say this was
meant to be."
