Shoplifting
A woman with 3-and-5-year-
old children was arrested in the
4900 block of Garth Road at
Walmart for shoplifting. The of-
fense occurred around 3:20 p.m.
and items reported stolen in-
cluded hand power tools valued
at $160! The children were later
released to a parent/guardian.
Possession of a
firearm arre

Sunday. A warrant was issued
for the suspect.
Theft
• A theft occurred in the 4500
block of Garth Road at Target.
The theft occurred at 3 p.m. Sat-
urday and included recording
equipment valued at S320.
• A man reported his wallet
was stolen in the 100 block of
North Alexander. The incident
occurred at 8 a.m. Friday and
the wallerwas valued at $25.
A Houston man was arreH^
ed for unlawful possession of
a weapon Saturday at 9:53 a.m.
in the 6800 block of Thompson
Road.
Burglary of motor
vehicle
• A man contacted Baytown
Police Department to report a
burglary of a motor vehicle that
occurred between 8:30 p.m.
Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.
• A woman reported that she
was a victim of theft that oc-
curred in the 4500 block of
Garth Road at noon Saturday.
• A burglary of a motor ve-
hicle occurred Saturday eve-
ning in the 5100 block of Garth
Road. Items stolen were valued
at $400. The incident occurred
at 5 p.m. Saturday.
•A burglary of a motor vehicle
was reported in the 6000 block
of East Wallisville at Goose
Creek Memorial High School.
More than S250 worth of items
was stolen from the car. The in-
cident occurred at 10:18 p.m.
Saturday.
DWI arrest
A major accident was report-
ed that occurred at 10:55 p.m.
Saturday in the 100 block of
South Alexander. The driver
was arrested for driving while
intoxicated.
Burglary of
habitation
• A home was broken into
in’ the 2200 block of Alabama
Street between noon Friday and-
7 p.m. Saturday. Jewelry stolen
was valued at $3,500.
• A burglary of a habitation
was reported in the 3500 block
of Mckinney. The incident oc-
curred at 6:45 p.m. Saturday and
$1,500 in cash was taken from
the home.
Assault
An assault was reported in the
4600 block of Quail at 1:16 p.m.

A person was arrested for
fraud at Dollar General on Garth
Road at 11:18 a.m. Saturday. ■

A man was arrested at Ivje
Tee and Raintree for operating a
motor vehicle on a public road-
way with no valid driver's li-
cense or insurance. The incident
occurred at noon on Saturday.

A man was arrested for failure
to stop and give information at
the 4600 block of Ripple Creek.
Burglars strike
local church
Sometime between 11:30
p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sun-
day, burglars entered a church
in the 500 block of East Texas
Avenue and stole nearly $500 in
items.
Computer hardware and soft-
ware, and office and entertain-
ment equipment were among
the items taken.
Burglaries
• A burglary was reported in
the 1900 block of Richardson
Lane sometime between 5 p.m.
Friday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Items worth over $17,000 were
taken.
• A homeowner'in the 1800
block of Amelia Avenue report-
ed to police that his vacant res-
idence was burglarized some-
time between 6 p.m. Friday and
1 p.m. Sunday. The windows
were broken and copper, worth
about $5,000, was taken from
or their release from jail, while
those in capias pro fine (war-
rants issued for non-payment)
must pay the total amount of
any outstanding fines or serve
their time in the Baytown Mu-
nicipal Jail at a rate of $100
per 24-hour period.
Defendants are encouraged
the air conditioning unit.
Counterfeit cash
A customer attempted to pass
a fake $20 bill "at a gas station
in the 5000 block of North Main
Street at 2:56 p.m. Sunday. The
man received the bill in change
a few days ago. The counterfeit
bill was seized.
Criminal mischief
Between 6 p.m. Saturday and
4 p.m. Sunday, a criminal mis-
chief occurred in the 500 block
of North Gaillard Street, damag-
ing property.
Arrests
• A Highlands man was arrest-
ed for public intoxication in the
’3500 block of North Main Street
at 6:59 p.m. Sunday.
• A Baytown man was arrest-
ed for driving while intoxicated
at Spur 330 and Bayway Drive
at 9:17 p.m. Sunday,
• A Baytown man was arrest-
ed for assault in the 2300 block
of Decker Drive at 9 p.m. Sun-
day. There were no weapons.
• Shortly after midnight Mon-
day, a Baytown man was ar-
rested for evading arrest or de-
tention and criminal trespass in
the 800 block of West Cleveland
Street at Morris Street. No ad-
ditional information was avail-
able.
• At 1:52 a.m. Monday, a
Borger. Texas, man was arrest-
ed for public intoxication in
the 1900 block of North Pruett
Street.
• On Monday at 5:44 a.m.. a
Baytown man was arrested for
public intoxication in the 500
block of Alford Avenue.
27 offenses
Between Saturday and
Sunday mornings, Baytown
police wrote' 27 'offense re-
ports, including one assault,
two burglaries, four burglar-
ies of a motor vehicle, one
DWI case, one forgery case,
three thefts, 10 other arrests
and five miscellaneous cases.
Police also worked 10 traffic
accidents, three with reported
injuries.

Between Sunday and Mon-
day mornings, Baytown po-
lice wrote 20 offense reports
and investigated incidents
that included two assaults,
five burglaries, one driving
while intoxicated, one sexual
assault, one theft, six other
arrests, and four miscella-
neous cases.

Louis V.
Frnge
Louis V. Fruge, Jr., 56, of Old Riv-
er, passed away Sunday, February
17, 2013 in Baytown. He was bom
October 31, 1956 in Lake Charles,
Louisiana, graduated from Dayton
High School in 1975 and had lived
in the Old River area most of his life.
Louis was a safety manager for
Linden Bulk Transportation for
the last 12 years. He was former-
ly a reserve deputy with the Cham-
bers County Sheriff’s Office and
city marshal of Old River and was
known for his sense of humor and
always enjoying a good joke.
He was preceded in death by his
mother, Henrietta Higginbotham.
Survivors include hi^yvife of 21
years, Mary Fruge of Old River;
sons, Addison Fruge and his wife
Roxanne of Pasadena, Bryan Fruge
of Mont Belvieu, John Williams and
his wife Jamie of Slidell, Louisi-
ana and Kiel Williams and his wife
Coleen of Old River and 9 grand-
children.
The family will receive friends
from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at
Navarre Funeral Home. Services
will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednes-
day, February 20,2013 at the funeral
home.

Annetta Marilyn
Black
Annetta Marilyn Black of Bell-
ville, Texas passed away on Satur-
day, February' 16,2013 in Houston.
She was 75 years old. Annetta was
comforted in her final days by the
presence of her loving family.
“Netta" was raised in Northwest
Indiana. She met Jerry, who would
become her husband for 57 years,
at Glen. Park Baptist Church. To-
gether they raised three children
and moved to the south suburbs of
Chicago, where they were involved
in the scores of school, church and
neighborhood activities that made
them an important part of the com-
munity. She moved with her family
to Baytown, Texas in 1977, where
they lived until retiring to Bellville
in 1993.
Netta was an accomplished seam-
stress with a talent for design. She
sang in the church choir and loved
to work with the flowers in her
garden, collect antiques and John
Grisham books. Mostly, Netta en-
joyed planning family functions
and doting after her Texas family
and grandchildren. She was ac-
tive in the First Baptist Church of
Baytown, then later at Brenham's
First Baptist.
She was preceded in death by
parents Bill and Mary Jones, sister
Betty Giles, brother Billy Jones and
son Daniel Black. She is survived
by her husband, Jerry Black, her
daughter, Debra Collins and son,
David (Betsy) Black, grandchil-
dren, Seth Collins, Lanie (Jeremy)
Garrett, Melody Black (fiancee
Justin Brovin), Travis (fiancee Jay-
lynn JuliarJ), Justin (fiancee Rita
Janacek), Jessica and Emily Black.
Netta will be missed by her many
friends and large immediate and
extended family - all of whom are
only happy to know that she is now
peacefully in heaven.
Visitation will be on Wednesday,
February 20th at 9 am at the Earth-
man Funeral Home, 3919 Garth
Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. Fu-
neral service will follow immedi-
ately, beginning at I lam. Interment
after the service will be at Memory
Gardens in Baytown. The family
asks that any donations be made to
the Muscular Dystrophy Associa-
tion of Houston, 2900 Weslayan,
Houston. Texas 77027.
