City to close roads
Civic Drive from Civic Circle to
West Main is again scheduled to be
closed today (weather permitting)
due to the reconstruction of the as-
phalt pavement.
The hours of the road closure are
expected to be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If
for some reason the work is not fin-
ished, crews will work Saturday to
complete the project.
Kilgore Road from Mockingbird
Lane to Ward Road will be closed
to through traffic today from 7 a.m.
to 5 p.m. due to utility construc-
tion. Traffic will be detoured to
adjacent streets during the closure.
Goose Creek
to host annual
SCC Palooza

The Goose Creek CISD’s John M.
Stuart Career Center will host its annual
SCC Palooza beginning at 7:30 a.m. on
March 5 at 300 YMCA Drive.
“We are very excited to host our sixth
campus event,” said Mike Riojas, assis-
tant principal of the SCC.
The SCC Palooza will consist of:
Fun run/walk — begins at 7:30 a.m.
Registration is $7 for students and $10
for adults
Car show — begins at 8 a.m. Regis-
tration is $20 until March 1, $25 until
the day of the event and the judging is
at noon
Super Smash Brothers competition on
Wii — begins at 8 a.m., $10 entry fee
All-you-can-eat contest — begins at
11 a.m. Registration is $20 and only the
first 20 entries will be accepted
There will also be barbecue plates for
$10.
SCC’s automotive technology, meat
processing, culinary arts and computer
maintenance programs, in collaboration
with industry partners, will sponsor the
event.
Proceeds from die event go toward
supporting the students and programs at
the SCC.
