season In the Southwest for this
year P. Homer Curtis presi-
dent of the Southwestern Inter-
collegiate Athletic Association says
many unique features were present-
ed It Is the first season to he gov-
erned by the rules of the Southwest-
ern Intercollegiate Athletic Associa-
tion. which was organized last
March and as such it has been most
successful. The territory embraced
by this association includes the states
of Texas Arkansas. Missouri Kan-
sas. Colorado the territories of New
Mexico and Oklahoma and Indian
Territory. Nearly every Important in-
stitution within this district Is either
now a member or has signified j
Intention of Joining In the near fu-
ture. The organization has resulted
in much closer athletic relations be-1
twe«-n the different members and in'
much higher standards both a« to
regulations and as to the quality
of game played.

A corporation to be known as the
Robertson-Miller Gin Company has
been organized and chartered under
the laws of the state to equip and
operate gin plants in Ellis county.
The company is composed of such I
well known «in men as J. Henry Mil-
ler S. T. Roberteon J. \Y. 1'igg and
C. H. Pigg.
This company has bought the big.
plant in the city of L. H. Peters and
will enlarge its facilities for hand- I
ling cotton before the opening of'
next season. The capital stock to be
used in enlarging and operating this
plan» is 120000. The same company
will operate the big gin at Ray with
a capital stock of J7.GO0.
