! Training Season for Major League
Men Soon to Open.
New York. Feb. 18.—Down at
Marlin Texas today the final prep-
arations are being made for the re-
ception of the minor league recruits
of the New York Giants the first of
the major league teams to begin the
annual spring migration to the sun-
ny southland. By the last of this
week it Ik expected that all οΓ Mc-
Graw's new men will be warming up
preparatory to a strenuous try-out
at biffing the ball base running
fielding and battery work. The old
timers among the Giants will not
I arrive at the camping ground until
about ten days later.
A few weeks more will find prac-
tically all of the major league play-
ers and aspirants quartered in va-
rious cities and towns of the south
from Savannah to Los Angeles.
Of the 400 or more players that
will be taken to the various train-
j ing camps scattered below Mason
i and Dixon's line probably eighty or
100 will be practically disposed of
by the time the bell rings on April
14. Some will go to pay ground rent
for the use of the training camps
while many will either be turned
back to the teams they played with
last season or be released to some
club which has a manager callable
of developing the players in ques-
tion so that they will be ripe for the
big leagues in another year.
All but one of the major league
clubs will train in the southland.
The one exception is the Chicago
American league club which will get
ι In its preliminary stunts in Califor-
nia and which will later hit the
south for numerous exhibition
games.
I <ji nip i\auonai League teams
I Chicago will train at West Baden
j and Vlcksburg New York in Texas
■ St. Louis in Huston Pittsburg at
Springs Cincinnati at St. Augustine
Fla. Philadelphia in Savannah
I Brooklyn in Jacksonville and Boston
at Augusta Ga.
The American League players
will be divided as follows: New
York in Atlanta Cleveland at Ma-
con Ga.; and New Orleans Chicago
in Los Angeles Detroit in Hot
Springs and Little Rock Philadel-
phia in New Orleans St. Louis in
j Shreveport La. Washington in Gal-
veston and Boston in Little Rock.
The last days of February have
been fixed for the getaway of the
Athletics Connie Mack taking them
I to New Orleans for a stay of three
I weeks after which they will con-
j test the usual spring series with the
I Phillies.
The Cleveland batteries will leave
j for Macon on the same day that
' Connie Mack will send his gang to
i the Crescent city. They will start
; work on Monday March 2.
The first three days in March will
witness the departure of several
clubs for Dixie. The two St. Louis
clubs will leave on March 3 the
Browns for Shreveport and the Car-
dinals for Houston Texas the
Browns' pitchers having already se-
cured preliminary training at French
Lick Springs. Joe Cantillon will have
his Washington club assemble at
Chicago on March 2 preparatory to
leaving for Galveston while the
White Sox will leave one day later
on their long trip to San Francisco
and Los Angeles.
The Chicago Cubs go down tQ
West Baden on March 4 and after
staying there for ten days loosening
up depart for Vickeburg for a weeks
stay after which they go barnstorm-
ing the southland eventually split-
ting up the team into two squads.
About this time Clark Griffin will
take his men to Hot Springs for a
boiling out of a week. Hugh Jenning
will also take his Detroit Tigers to
the same place for a week or two of
gradual loosening up. The Tigers
real training stunt however will be
at Little Rock. The Boston Red Sox
will also be at Little Rock but the
two clubs have arranged their
schedules so that they will not con-
flict. The Bostons will start In while
the Tigers are at the Springs and
get away in time to give up the
field to the Champions.
Manager Lajole will take his reg-
ulars to Macon on March 7. Within
the next day or so after the last Nap
has hit the pike the Phillies will
leave for Savanah the Reds for St.
Augustine Fla. The Brooklyns and
I Pirates will be the last two clubs to
depart for the South the Pirates
going to Hot Springs as usuel while
the Superbas will train at Jackson-

Attractive Window Display.
Quite an attractive and uiftque
window display may be seen at Hood
& Curlln'e drug store. The decora-
tive scheme Is original and its ar-
rangement Is quite effective. The two
clothes lines filled with rubber goods
and sick room supplies suggest that
a full line of these goods is carried
by Hood ft Curlin. Almost every
household needs some article on dis-
play in the window.

llyomel is the most unusual reme-
dy ever known for the cure of ca-
! tarrh.
It. follows nature in her method of
treating diseases of the respiratory
organs as its healing balsams are
taken in with the air you breathe
thus reaching the most remote air
cells in the nose throat and lungs
killing all catarrhal germs and pre-
venting their growth.
Use Hyoinei at the first symptoms
of catarrh. Do not allow the disease
to extend along the delicate mucuous
membrane gradually going from the
nose to the throat thence into the
bronchial tubes and then onward
and downward until the lungs are
reached. Hyomei will cure all cur-
able forms and stages of catarrh.
Hood & Curlin take the whole risk
and offer to refund the money for
a dollar outfit if It fails to cure. 275
